Because this it is the same layout that has been used for typewriters for years. Something about back when the typewriters were manual, they wanted to space apart the most used keys so that they didn't jam up. So it's just using the same system that's been used for years and this is how everyone was trained in typing class. Now, it wouldn't make a difference with computer keyboards as you're not going to jam anything up (unless of course you get a sticky key or something like that)...but this is what people are used so I guess why bother changing? Besides...I don't want to learn a new layout...it would decrease my speed considerably and I just can't have that!

i found out approximately this in psychology very final 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. properly, the computing device keyboard originates from the typewriter key attached. And the reason QWERTY is on the suitable line is for the reason that jointly as the typewriter salesman might desire to exhibit the typewriter to a shopper he'd variety "typewriter" basically so they placed the full letters to spell typewriter on the suitable line. and for this reason! yet, the QWERTY keyboard isn't the main efficient and large technique to coach the keys, its form of awkward and clumsy. So this guy Dvorak invented his own keyboard association it somewhat is have self belief to be extra beneficial. yet, it particularly is unlike various physique was vulnerable to distinction upon getting used to QWERTY.

Oddly enough - to slow you down when you type.

The original QWERTY keyboard is NOT intended for you to go fast - just the opposite. Since mechanical typewriters had to have time for the letters to strike the page and return to position, the most used ones are spread out - to make it slower.

Because the first typewriters could not keep up with the typing and frequently used letters got their strikers stuck together. Now we are just used to it.

it was originally for typerwriters so that the most used letters weren't close together (they would hit together and stick or jam). people became so used to it that it made no sense to try and change it back when keyboards were invented.
