The Earth is what it is. Whatever label is put on it is somewhat superfluous.
That said, I do believe that language should be used with precision, and astronomy has been struggling to classify a number of medium sized objects. The recent decision regarding Pluto will be controversial for years, but it does uphold the traditional meaning of the word "planet".

I wouldn't understand the gravity of the situation.
Besides, who cares how they spin it.
It wouldn't lead to the Earth's orbituary showing up in the newspaper.

A planet by any other name is just as habitable.

uh.............dont fink so. a planet is what you make it. So what if some big shot scientist thinks we not good enough or big enough to be a planet. Planet., non planet, dwarf planet, it's all the same to me

Not really, it's only a category for something after all. Still remains the only place I know of that I can live on.

I don't know if I'd want to live on a Trans-Venitian Object (or whatever they'd decide to call us!). Actually, I guess that whatever they call it, I'm staying, so...yeah, go ahead demote us! Lol.

i suppose i would! not that it would effect me..... i suppose i wouldnt mind that much... id just prefer it being a planet and the other one being reduced!
