My daughter is 9 yrs old. My daughter is absolutely beautiful inside and out. She looks like a walking doll. She gets her feelings hurt because she has a large freckle type mole exactly on the tip of her nose? This group of mean stuck up girls called her freckle face or these mean girls tell her it is not a freckle but a mole. I was told she could have it lasered off. I am seriously thinking of doing this.

I had a birthmark removed from my face many years ago with out any problems by a plastic surgeon. You can't even tell there was ever a birthmark there to begin with. The area is anesthetized with the same medication used at the dentist's office. The length of time of the procedure will depend on how deep this mole is. I had sutures in to close my incision but now they use something similar to super glue to close up incisions. If she has any pain after the procedure, the doctor will probably recommend using ice pack. Good luck.

I would get it removed after I made sure there was no possible effects from having this done. I have one on the tip of my nose as well, and have heard some comments. At that early of an age, those comments could destroy her self-esteem and confidence.

Damn, kids can really be so mean & they just suck. Take her to a dermatologist. They will tell you if the mole can be removed without leaving a scar. I have a couple on my face that I wanted rid of but they would scar so I chose to keep them. See what they can do for her - maybe the best time would have beeen at the start of summer vacay, so she could be all healed by now. But she is coming into that age group where appearance is everything. Tell her to hang tough & say whatever she's gotta say to shut them up. My son gets teased about different stuff too - he loves country, most of the kids at his school listen to rap - that sort of thing. I told him to feel free to tell them off & I'll set it straight with the principal if she fusses. Good luck!!!

Yes, why let her feel bad about something that can easily be remedied. I don't see any reason to keep it there. Let her see a Doctor if it is no big deal then let her decide. I would tell her that she is beautiful with or without it and if it bothers he then it can be removed. I would also let her know that she has to accept that there are mean people and the she needs to love herself.

You may want to have it check out just to make sure it is not cancerous.

Kids pick on other kids a lot.

This is actually a good life lesson. If she can learn to not let other people bother her, she will have a great tool for dealing with life later. Remember the old saying, "Those who anger us, control us."

Just ask her if she wants to give a bunch of stuck up moraless girls that much power over her mind.

perhaps in a few years it will be worth dealing with for cosmetic reasons. Personally, I think that having the procedure now would only reinforce in your daughters mind that to be beautiful, you have to be able to match a certain set of social standards.

Poppycock.

See what she wants to do - if she feels that strongly about it, check into it, but kids are kids and they will pick on anyone for anything. It's been that way since kids started going to school.

If you have the means to and it's not a risky procedure why not. Self esteem in young children is VERY important.
