It's a mistake alot us women make when we have problems in relationships we tell girlfriends and family members - the only problem is once you're over it and moved on the people you've told are still looking at your man funny. If the problems you're having are your typical relationship problems and you are not being mistreated then keep your issues between you and your man and the two of you only resolve the problem - treat your home like Vegas - "what happens here stays here". You have to remember you're telling your mother all of the negative things about your man so all she can see is this awful person - if your relationship is good and you're just having minor issues then stop telling your mother about it - tell her positive things your man has done, and save the venting for a counselor, a support group on line, or a very close friend that you can trust - that way you get sound impartial advice.

If you love him, be with him, your family isn't mary'n him, you are! I can understand family is important, but some time you gotta pull the tit outta your mouth and follow your heart. And I would NOT recomend cry'n to mom about everything, that's the main reason for thir hate
You should talk to a friend that you trust or a counsler when yall fight and u need someone to talk to

My sister has a problem picking men too. She's 44 now and has yet to pick a boyfriend that the entire family likes. It's not that we're real fussy, it's just she keeps picking one loser after another. We referred to her last boyfriend as dumb-a$s, the one before that is $hit-for-brains....and trust me, we were being kind!
Maybe you should set your standards a little higher. Tell yourself you deserve better. If this is someone you want to spend the rest of your life with and your family doesn't like him, it's not going to get better....maybe your ARE settling. There's a lot of men out there I'm sure you can find one to treat you the way you deserve to be treated, with respect & kindness & love.

You should always trust your mom's judgment. Your falling out is indicative of an unfixable schism

what's wrong with finding someone rich? If you were certain you were in love you would not even ask this question.
