you want a lot of things from life. thats great. I will attemp to impart some knowledge from my ancient 32year old brain. i would suggest travel, see the world, for all its beauty and its tragedy. it can expand yuour mind to see it in its true form and itll inspire you to appreciate its delicate balance and you will appreciate its fragility.
meet loads of people, black, white , indian the lot. learn from others and have an interest in you r fellow person.
enjoy urself, laugh and love as if theres no tommorrow. drink plenty and enjoy your youth.
Read, read and read as much as you can.
work with the disadvantaged or handicapped at some point in your life, trust me.
money is not happiness...people and friendships are!!!1
hope some of this helps....good luck with it

Show interest in everything. Sounds like you already do! But you don't have to like things like opera to be smart and intelligent. Having a general knowledge of the arts, politics, geography, and popular culture are enough. A person who knows a little bit about many general things is a lot more interesting to talk to than someone who knows everything about one specific topic. The best advice I could give you is to say yes to every opportunity to explore something new. How to be cool? If I had been more comfortable in my own skin when I was 13 I would have been a lot more popular and considered cooler. I think my own insecurities held me back.

I guess you're on summer holidays. A good start would be to go for the day to your nearest city with museums etc', and have a day out where you try new things. For example, go and see a movie that is a bit more 'arty' than you would usually, take advantage of museums and galleries, go to a park and 'people watch', only eat food you've never tried before. You might find something you like.

No one can 'learn' life- basically give everything a fair go. If you don't like it, that's fine (there is nothing more silly than someone pretending to like something to look 'clever' or 'arty') but give everything a go.

BTW- you have to be like this all your life!! You can't just 'do it'.

And NEVER do that 'I wanna be mature' never-smiling, never-taking-risks, taking-yourself-too-seriously thing many teenage girls do. It is the 100% method to make you look like a teenage girl- and if you stick like it, the 100% way to be a boring woman. Laugh at yourself and don't worry how you look- if you are learning and developing THAT is more important.

Classical music is a start. Read the Great Books of Literature. Travel the world, and learn a new language. Paint. Embrace life!

Spend you free time roaming aimlessly around art galleries and soak up what you feel and talk to others you meet there. Opera is expensive to see unless you stand at the back, but you can borrow a dvd from your library. Puccini's Madama Butterfly is very accessible as is the Nutcracker ballet.

my biggest advice is stay away from people who think they are smart and intelligent but are not. Many people think intelligence is a fad and they argue about EVERYTHING! Generally when they are pregnant and unemployed in a few years they drop the act.
