I would talk to my husband about it,if he does nothing,I would then take it upon myself to correct them whenever the step out of line.I would say things like ; I would appreciate it if you didn't do or say that in the presence of my self or the children, and no thank you I can do it myself.Sooner of later they will tire of your constant comments and will either leave your house,or shut up.You have to stand up to them.they have to know that YOU are their son's wife now,and that you are capable and willing to take care of him and the children because they are your responsibility now,not theirs.Tell them if you need help or advise, you will ask for it.

Smile and take charge. I am wondering what they are taking over when you say they take you over. I think I would thank them for their opinion but tell them you still would prefer to do things your way. I have a sister in law who is very opinionated and often rude. Once she even asked me if I was ever pretty......Stand up them, this is your life, your children and your husband.

You and your husband must tell them that you are living your own lives. I know it's not easy, but they have to respect your family values and opinions. If they do not, limit your time with them. Hopefully they will get the idea and back off if they do not get the direct request to do so.
Good luck, I have been there. It takes time, and continued reinforcing of boundaries!

Nobody can "take over" you, you must be allowing them to take control of the situation?
Take back the control, speak your peace quietly, and say what it is you need to say. You do not have to be aggressive nor rude, maybe their intentions are not to cause you problems. However, they will never know they are upsetting you unless you tell them so!

Set the rules when they are in your house. If they canot abide by them, show them to the door. Tell your husband he needs to back you up on this or else you and him are going to keep having this problem and personally you are sick of it, is he?

Tell them to mind their own damn business and abide by ur wishes or stay the hell away. Stand up for urself and once you do--they will quit. You are letting them do it and as long as u do--they'll continue to do it.
