I know that Egypt is a great plac full of history and culture. As a hobby arcaeologist I know quite a bit about the acient egyptians but I also know a lot about modern day egyptians for several reasons as a bellydancer I know alot about the dances of egypt everything from raqs sharqi to raqs shamadan to the zar. I know about the language which is arabic but I know that in Egyptian accent there are many differences to the Modern Standard Arabic such as all "j" sounds are usually pronouned "g". For example Samia Jamal is Samal Gamal. They also exchange the "th" sound of Thal with a "s" or "z" type sound which leads to a lot of zank you's when they speak english to you. I also know that when you travel there every egyptian knows how to say in English "Welcome! Welcome to Egypt!" but often they don't know more than that. I know about Egypts golden age of cinema starring Farid Al-Atrache, Samia Gamal, Naima Akef, Taheya Cariocca, etc... I also know about the great classics of Egyptian Music such as Om Khalthoum who's still highly revered for her clairty and "soul" as we might put it. I also am familiar with the music of Farid Al Atrache, Abdel Halim Hafez, and more. I'm familiar with it's history under the ottoman empire being ruled by the mamluks and such. I've read quite a bit about the rule under Mohamed Ali. I know how Al-Azhar is one of the oldest colleges/mosques in the world and produces most of the most well respected Sheiks in the world. I know that the current president is an @$$hole and should be removed from office. I know that egypt has a very friendly country wher everybody seems to like you even if they have only just met you. It's almost like their happy that you would honor them with your prescense. Being married to an Egyptian I have gotten to know quite well typical Egyptian mannerisms like as soon as people start eating I should start the tea so it can be drunk immediately after eating. Also, everyone has to wear their shib-shib's (flip-flops) in the house although I just prefer to keep my floors clean and walk barefoot. I know that egyptians love to eat and thy always make enough food to feed an army. When cooking for egpptians I often have to cook rice measuring 1 cup uncooked rice for every 1 egyptian that will be eating as opposed to about 1/4 cup for every american who will be eating. I now know alot about egyptian foods as well. I've learned to make bamia, koshari, suneyat, basboosa, and baklawa, crema and muhalabia. I know how to make the "perfect" cup of tea, carcaday, or sahalab I now know that to make "egyptian' salad you make a regular american salad and then chop every thing much smaller but not as small as tabouli... apparently that's too small. I know that egyptians tend to have very close family. I don't know that I could fit everything that I know about egyptians and egypt on one answer maybe you could ask a more specific question.

I live in New York and I have known two Egyptian girls and they are both rich and mean. I have known one other Egyptian girl and she has been smart, nice, and working class. Two out of the three girls have been Muslim. Aside from that, I know a guy who I like that might be Egyptian. If I can, I'd like to ask you a question: How do I tell if he's Egyptian? What languages do Egyptians speak?
