YES! This happens to me all the time. From what I've researched on my own, I think it seems that I may have Social Anxiety Disorder. I hate labels, but after looking at the symptoms and comparing them with my daily life, it fit to a tee. I used to think I was the only one that had this problem, but I was surprised.
It has really affected all aspects of my life. My marriage, children, job, and friends (the little i do have) have all been affected by it and wondered why I would choose to stay at home than go shopping, or to a fair, or out to eat. I'm starting to work on it little by little without medication because I don't want to become dependent on a pill to help me get over this.
The website I attached helped me a great deal.

Not really panic attacks. I had pneumonia a few years back and I find now when I'm in enclosed places with alot of people now, like malls, the subway and it's packed, I feel like I can't breathe. I have not had a panic attack yet but I find I have to get out before it gets overwhelming. Hopefully it will never get to that point.

No, but if you have those uncomfortable feelings then you're probably not too sociable. I would suggest you seek counseling to better deal with your issues. Honestly, there is nothing to fear when visiting a mall or busy restaurant. Good luck.

I used to. I learned that going to a wall, or a bench, or anywhere that was nearby and out of the way for a few minutes helped a lot. I would look at the floor and take deep breathes, 'zoning out' from all of the people around me until it passed. Now it rarely happens anymore. Good luck. :-)

Yes I did for a while but was helped with drugs and counseling. Now I don't need either one and I do fine in all places.

i had one, once, when i went to a mall a few days before christmas (like an idiot). i think it was mostly due to being completely overwhelmed and overstimulated - plus i'm never comfortable in crowds.

I used too, but then I grew up. Besides it's more fun to go with a friend anyway.
