Limewire and other file sharing software is legal. Using it to upload or download copyright protected media - music, videos, images, software - without the copyright holder's consent is illegal because it is theft. The fee paid for Limewires Pro version does not pay any royalties to the copyright owners so any commercial music downloaded is not legal.

The limewire program is legal, and filesharing is legal - UNLESS (and this is a BIG unless): you share copyrighted material without the copyright owner's permission.
Songs, photos, documents, etc, would all be considered copyrighted, and 100% illegal to download or share unless you are the copyright owner or have permission from the copyright owner.
Using the program to distribute your own material, or access files in the public domain is completely legal.

Well I know one thing.Limewire.com IS NOT free!It used to be until this one girl I go to school with was downloading songs left and right until she was caught,and then the company sewed her.So now you have to pay to even download the site and the songs you want.

I'm not sure if the site is illegal, but downloading music that you don't pay for is. And that's what that site is all about.

yes it is a cool site...but no it is not legal...your a lawyer? have you heard of piracy...people are getting busted for it..it may take awhile...but they are getting caught..as you should know nothing is free...i dont know what the penalty is ... i hear its rather expensive...you should check more in to it..

it is illegal,but pro is legal because you pay. Yet a way arounfd that is getting limewire illegally, then downloading pro from the illegal version for free.

Hi there, I have Limewire.pro and we dont seem to have any problems with it. We download songs on to cds and everyones happy.We are a lawabiding family and pay our taxes and arent worried about having it on our computer. You shouldnt either.

The program isn't. The people who use it to violate or infringe copyrights are committing crimes.

oh my god!..i cant belive there is still ppl in this country that dont know about or have limewire!..everybody knows its the best!..rarley gives u viruses easy to download and easy to use!..its the greatest!..and its not illegal!..its free 2!
