very good question, and thank you! most Christians are truly loving people, as demonstrated by the many friends that I have. and homosexuals can be Christians, too, as so many homophobes say isn't possible. I often wonder myself how these people, who claim to be Christians, can assume the role of God himself and pass judgment on others, when that is a right reserved for God. I might not go to church all the time, but I know that God created and loves us all. and, if He didn't create homosexuals, there wouldn't be any!

I just had to read your question when I saw the header :) I am a Christian and sometimes I spew bible talk so maybe I can answer with a story. When I was a teenager my best friend was a guy who happened to be gay. We had both grown up going to church. My father who is a very good man asked me one day how I could be friends with this guy and not wonder about him going to hell (he didn't word it that way but you get the idea) I explained to my father that my friend and I had actually talked about it a couple of times and my friend and I agreed. While sex out of marriage is against the teaching of the bible so are many other things that people do everyday. I looked at my father and said I have had premarital sex does that mean I will go to hell? My father thought about that for a minute and I said the bible says all sin is equal, my friend is no worse or better than me. My father in looking at it like it was me his daughter and not some gay guy he didn't understand changed his view ever so sightly. He became much more accepting of my friend. While he still thinks it is wrong he realized it wasn't any worse than anything he had done. God says judge not lest ye be judged I really think that says it all. People, gay or straight should leave each other alone and not worry about what goes on in other people's bedrooms.

Unbiased? lol
I think way too many christians judge and this is wrong and unfair. A Christian has no right to judge. However a christian is told by Jesus to "judge righteous judgment". Notice the word righteous. We shouldn't judge just for the sake of being judgmental. I think that is what Jesus spoke out against. Where do we get these "righteous judments" or declarations of which attitudes and behaviors are acceptable and which aren't? We get them from the Bible. Now if we declare what the Bible already says, is that so wrong, especially when we are divinely mandated to share the "whole" counsel of God's word? That includes the comforting promises and the blistering warnings and everything in between.

I don't see anyone as inferior because of that. I was raised christain and to believe being gay is a Sin. I don't think that my sins are better or worse than anyones. If you shine the light on every nook and cranny in my life you will see that I'm no where near perfect.
Through yahoo answers and some very helpful emails I am seeing Gay people and droping the Gay in front of thier name. Now I'm just talking to people.
I think that title just starts an uproar with christains, they may talk to someone for hours and open up, relate and really have a good time. Then at the end of the convo it's like oh what your Gayyy God hate this and God hates that. Honesty God hates sin, whether it's a straight man with a addiction to Lying, or a Straight woman who constantly steals from people. Or a young child that constantly disrespects his/her parents. In My openny God looks at homosexuality the same way he looks at those other sins I mentioned.
I'm not judging. He who is without sin cast the first stone. Thats what Jesus said when a adultering woman was caught and the people of the town wanted to stone her. Christians need to stop trying to stone Gay people. Christains have thier own sins they should be praying about and getting God's guidance on.
The way I see it your life and what you do with is is between You and the one who created you "God". To me you are some one I can learn from, some one I can teach or lean on. Your path through life is so differnet then mine it would be completely stupid to not listen, to you becasue your everyday people like me.

Hi there, I don't know if you'd call me a bible spewing homophobe... But I'm a Christian. I agree with what you say that God doesn't teach us about hate... but God does say that he's one and the same yesterday, today and in time to come. God did destroy Sodom and Gomorrah for acts of homosexuality and fornication... God expects us to sin... because we as humans, that's what we do. What He does have a problem with is when we sin and we don't repent or when we sin, and we go on doing the same thing over and over. Listen, my best friend is gay, and I love him to death, although I may not agree with his practices. It's like this... God doesn't want to see men sleeping together or getting married, and He doesn't want to see the same for women either. He knows just like you do that you've got an immortal soul, and that He loves you, and that He wants you to live with him in paradise. However, He does say that you can't serve 2 masters... it's that He says that you can't love Him but at the same time, be sleeping with another man... and this doesn't just go for homosexuality, but for other sins as well... for instance fornication (which I am struggling with right now). But honestly, love, I think it's wrong when people single out gays and lesbians... it's not fair... because there are a lot of sins that go on and that these same Christians don't readily look at that... Hope I haven't confused you more!

They can't answer this question with honesty if they really read all the bible because they have to skip the verses that make them sound less than holy.Like judge not lest ye shall be judged and judgement is mine sayth the Lord.I guess I missed the part where it says "Except for the Gays"and vengence is yours if you are straight. When the issue of gay unions came up I was surprised at all those without sin who showed up to cast the first stones. If they are worried about gays messing up their happy homes then they should keep their spouses out of the gay bars.

Good question! I agree with you. If they believed that Jesus died for every-ones sins and we are all "saved"...then why do they spew such hatred? And where is their faith? And if God always overcomes evil, then they really don't have anything to worry about, right? If we are Gay by our own hand and God wants it changed then I guess at some point he will change it. It's not like we are forcing them to have sex with us or are trying to turn them gay. Why are they so scared of us - when they truly feel they have Jesus in their corner - they should have nothing to fear at all. And they should know through God's grace that we are all saved...I mean it's what they preach after all.
I can't wait to read these answers...LOL!

What bothers me the most is when they say "I'm not judging you, but...."
Brother please, that's about as transparent as the stained glass in your Church's windows.
Whenever someone makes a statement like that, do they actually believe the crap they're saying?
I don't believe the Bible says it's wrong, bad or sinful to be Homosexual. I do believe it says it's wrong, bad and sinful to abuse children or behave in a sexual manor that is against your own sexual nature. I also believe that Leviticus was written so many thousands of years ago the world was a completely different place. Women were thought less of than Dogs! To lie with a man as would a woman, was concidered to be lowering ones self to a status lower than the family dog! It was dehumanizing one's self.
Thankfully we don't think that way anymore, but we haven't firgured out how to translate the Bible to fit modern life.
Yes, the Bible is timeless, but it's not meant to be STAGNENT!
The lessons are the same when applied appropriately.
Think of it this way.
Shakespeare wrote masterpieces because the stories are timeless. The lessons are timeless. They can be ADAPTED to fit modern life.
The Bible is NO different.
I don't care if you think it's "revissionist" thinking. You're right, it is....BECAUSE IT SHOULD BE!
Being gay now simply doesn't have the same connotation or affects on society as it did thousands of years ago. There are BILLIONS of mouths to feed and hundreds of thousands who go without food, shelter and clothing!
God said "Be fruitful and multiply"
But haven't you stopped to think just once that we've accomplished this goal well enough?
When we can't feed, shelter or clothe the ones we already have, how is being a homosexual going to negitively affect this?
Statistically it can't and won't!

1) No one said you are inferior.
2) Yes, I care.
3) No, my God teaches love, not hate.
4) No, I cannot judge for God, or on God's behalf. That's not my place.
W/ that being said, I guess you can sum up that I want you to be saved. But more importantly, God wants you to be saved. He loves you more than you or I can imagine. He hates the sin, but loves the sinner. Same goes w/ me. I don't hate anyone, I hate their sin. I hate my own sin too!...But thats why I'm trying to change for Christ. He died for us, now it's up to you to accept it and change for Him. It takes time, no one expects you to change all of a sudden. But don't you think changing for Him is worth it after what He did for you? I hope you can see what I'm trying to say here.
God bless you.

H2Oasis has it right and to the point. The world of Christianity needs more people like him!
Calling someone bad names in the same paragraph as offering bible scripture is complete ignorance toward gay people AND God.
