He's 5 months old and has started having screaming fits. Im not talking crying this is proper screaming, and can go on for hours. He cannot be consoled, if i pick him up he screams, if i put him down he screams more, he usually only stops when he wears himself out. I dont know if its for attention, if he's in pain maybe with wind - he does suffer with wind/colic, or if its tiredness. There doesnt seem to be a definite pattern to it.
I really dont know what to do. Any advice?

Its probably colic. I was lucky and my daughter never had any problems with this. Go talk to your doctor about this.

Sounds like hes teething or a serious bout of colic, for a nephew of mine that literally screamed the first 6 months of his life, there was nothing to do but be cautious, when hes having a bottle don't lay him down completely, and as soon as hes done sit him all the way, don't let him lie down right after consuming anything. But every child is different.Take him to the doctor but if its colic they might just tell you that he'll out grow it,so patience will be the key.But there are remedies you can get at a health food store for colic.Good Luck.

HE could be teething, or have colic, some baby's just have a bad time and it is always in the evening, but check his gums it sounds like he is starting to get teeth and that is the worst time you will ever have they scream because the tooth is breaking through the gum and it hurts like hell.
Maybe you should have his doctor look him over, also is his formula o.k. that will give him gas to, don't worry he will out grow this I had 3 and we all made it through the baby days.good luck

It could be colic, teething or an ear infection. There is the possiblity that he is constipated or something. Maybe try a warm bath and massage his stomach.

Best advice... call the pediatrician. Explain in detail the problems. I'm sure they will want to see him and set you up with an appointment. If you have started him on any new foods you will want to tell them as well to check for food allergies.

Good Luck and take some Advil for yourself!

It could be tething or colic! When he screams does he all of a sudden stretch out his legs and curl up. That's a good sign that he probably has colic. If he's drooling alot then its teething. Try giving him some teething tablets works very well

it sounds like colic, the very best thing you can do is get a blanket & throw it in the dryer for a few mins so its really warm but not hot & wrap him up tightly in it & just hold him close. This worked for my goddaughter who had extremlyt bad colic & we tried EVERYTHING else!

he's probably teething. Try getting some baby orajel and putting it on his gums. It may seem early but I've heard of babies getting teeth that young. If that doesn't work, take him to the doctor

Well I have two kids and that does sound like teething pain, but you never know with babies. Take him to the doctor.

I was a screamer myself. sorry to tell you, but that's just the way I was. there was no real reason why I did what I did. have you tried to consult your doctor? sometimes babies are just like that...don't know what else to say. good luck...maybe buy earplugs so that you don't have to hear him scream as loudly as he does. just make sure that you don't EVER leave him unattended. :D
again, good luck
