GWBush was a flawed candidate in 2000, but was the better GOP candidate and was nominated, then elected over the even worse Al Gore (thank God!).

Bush had some good ideas (tax cut, social security reform, etc) and some bad ideas (no child left behind, medicare prescription benefits, etc.) so was a middle of the road Republican, a little liberal, a little conservative. I wasn't particularly impressed, but still, better than the alternative.

I also like his management style, because for the most part he selects very intelligent, capable and accomplished people to fill the posts, and looks to them for their opinion and advice.

Then came 9/11 and Bush has done a very good job in his response to extremist Islamist terror. He's been a very capable commander in chief, and has accomplished quite a bit, much more than the Democrats or media are willing to admit.

I was very pleased with his selections of Roberts and Alito to the Supreme Court. These are originalist jurists who will be protectors of our rights for a long time.

Overall, he is a good leader and manager, a little too 'big government' for me, a poor speaker, a good commander in chief, sometimes with a tin ear (Harriet Meiers, inaction on illegal aliens, not using veto against spending, etc), subject at times to rosy visions, cronyism, etc. But he has proven himself to be honest, with integrity and honor.

Overall a decent, not bad, not great, president.

Dubya' is living proof that you shouldn't hire a regular, down to earth, friendly social guy, to do a job that requires a brilliant statesman to do.

George honestly believes he's doing the right thing. His view of Iraq was very idealistic. That if you bring freedom to a people, a western style democracy will break out. Sadly- that didn't happen.

He's made some really really grand foreign policy mistakes that will (or already has) ultimately lead to less security for the US and a reduction of our economic and political stature in the world.

He didn't just do a few stupid things- he messed up in a big big way. This is what happens when you don't listen to your political enemies and see the other side.

did you know that Lincoln appointed his political enemies in his cabinett? Even Clinton had Republicans in his Cabinet.

He became the president of Right Wing america, instead of all of America.

I don't blame him for gas prices or 9-11. But he also didn't do a very good job preventing either. Would a push for energy conservation really have hurt anything... other than his campaign contributions from his close ties with big oil?

George Bush -- is the son of a former President. One can not ignore that fact. Plus, George Bush -- came in at a very difficult "passage" in the political history not only of America but also of "mankind". You have to allow for the fact that Bush, Jr. is only human and he can only do "so much" -- a lot depends on the advice he receives from people around him -- and a lot depends on how other countries interact to a given political situation -- since we live now in a Global Village. That is a start for a short response. The longer one has to await George Bush memoirs.

I think he makes a great president. Alot of the stuff he gets blamed for, but if you look back everyone wanted him to make the decisions that he made. A lot of people blames him for several things right now that I don't think he needs to be blamed for. For example: gas prices, 9/11, etc. As far as the gas prices being like they are I wouldn't complain about them because in the United Kingdom gas prices are up to $8.00 a gallon. And as far as 9/11it would have happened anyway. I think S T couldn't have said it better.

I think he is an effective President when it comes to the war on terrorism. I believe he is right in maintaining the right to victory in Iraq despite his opponents attempts to with drawl for political gain. He was also right in cutting taxes to stimulate the economy.

He has not been effective on enforcing the border. He and both houses of Congress including both parties have been pathetic in maintaining spending despite the massive increase in revenue.

I think he is a man who always tries to do what he thinks is the right thing, regardless of what it does to his reputation and regardless of what people outside the US thinks.

Sometimes this is good (his fiscal policies, and some of his foreign policy), sometimes this is bad (other aspects of his foreign policies, the intolerance for gays, etc)

The man makes me want to puke every time I see him. I think is this the best we have? If so then we are in big trouble!
So, I just try not to think of him at all.

I support our President.

I think he is doing what he thinks is best for our nation. I support him in the war against terrorism. I support his stand on abortion, gay marriage, etc. He's not perfect and I don't agree with everything he's done but I still support our President.

Poor leadership, poor administration, uses division to consolidate a power base; knows how to appeal to his base of supporters through simple ideas and soundbytes.
