it is an ok rpg, but i don't feel it's worthy of the final fantasy name. none of the games after 6 are worthy of the name final fantasy.

lets see what was wrong with X, in my own personal point of view, and perhaps you will understand why there are so many people who hate VII and so many who hate X, and then you have so many who LOVE either/both of those games

in X, you went to the next area automatically. you could not make a mistake and go to the wrong place at the wrong time. because of this the game felt like it was pushing you along, deciding where you will be, and when you will be there.

in X, you were able to customize weapons with the pierce ability. now, you may think "jim, what's wrong with pierce?". well, gentle reader, read on and learn what's wrong with it. because of the ability to "pierce" enemies, using defensive and support magic became pointless after a while. why blind something? you have blind-strike on your blitzball wakka.

mini game. lots of people like it. that's fine, nothing wrong with that at all. but there's no point to it. in VIII you had a card game with cards you could make items out of. in IX you had a card game where your level could earn you items (i think. but the card game was messed up and not fixed until XI)

the characters. tidus did nothing but whine. yuna did not display the emotions she should have. wakka (nothing needs to be written here). the characters were not people that you care to remember. well, auron kicked ***, mostly because he knew he was fighting a pointless battle the entire time.

sphere grid. because of the sphere grid, there was no difference in characters. if someone filled out wakka's part of the grid, they may as well be used instead of him. if you did what many people did and filled the entire grid for every single person, then it won't matter which person you use in battle. because every person would be a carbon copy of each other character

mini-quests. lets see... dodging lightning bolts. that is not a quest. that, gentle reader, is annoying.

[i plan on filling in more, when i can]

but i hope this helps clear up why there is a gap of people that really dislike FFX

I'm a final fantasy fan, and I loved X. I thought the battle system was pretty good. Being able to change characters during battle allowed you to get the right character for the current situation. And what normal final fantasy games doesn't have your characters standing around getting smacked?

I've liked most of the FF games, and I'm NOT going to stand around raving about FF7 being the best game ever. I didn't like X very much because it seemed to candy coated. I mean, from the beginning I had no emotion for Yuna, and that horrible blitzball mini-game, the stereotype of Wakka, or whatever he was, I just didn't get a good vibe. Another aspect that bummed me out ,was how straight forward the game was. There didn't seem to be any exploring or anything until you got much closer to the end of the game. It just felt weird to me. Not a bad game, just certainly not my favorite.

It's the battle system. The battle system sucks. At least that's what I think it is. Basically my characters would get into battle position and just stand there and get smacked. And during boss battles I had to keep switching them. It was frustrating.

I don't understand either. The whole game was brilliant as were the cut-scenes and the soundtrack. That Suteki De Na song was class.
