I use an epilator for leg and bikini. A little painful but not too bad, pain is instant then gone. I would recommend, hair stays gone for up to 3weeks, although it is time consuming and takes awhile to get the hang of.
PS. Have a very hot bath then do one leg. Top bath up then do other, seems to work faster and is less painful.

No, no, no, never again...
I used to use an epilator, okay pain aside (my god they are painful, could be sold to the American army as torture device), I found it caused my hair to become more ingrown.
Bottom line, waxing is not as painful and over sooner. Epilators take forever to use, which makes it a long drawn out painful event. Now I just use a woman's electric razor, you shave everyday, not as clean as a razor but does lead to ingrown hairs and no pain involved, which also means avoiding accidental slips with a razor (damn painful!).

My skin is real sensitive so after i used a wide selection of creams that burnt it through or wouldn't work at all, wax that would leave half the hair on but hurt like hell every time even on bare patches coz it sticks to skin and damages it at removal, razor that was worst of all coz i'd feel all itchy for days so couldn't do it more than once a week, i finally tried epilator.
THANK GOD IT WORKED!!!
I got a Phillips Satinelle massage epilator that slightly masks the pain. It's not as bad as the rest. Tho i only use on my ankles, coz on thighs it's still OUCH!! too rough. I also use Johnsons after-lotion, i dunno if it really reduces regrowth to any extent, but at least i don't feel itchy so bad.
If you finally set yr mind on buying one, here are useful tips:
- Don't swich on high speed regardless of user guide saying it's for chunky bits
- epilate slowly (won't take much time anyway once you get used to it, never takes me more than 10 mins full-scale epilation on one leg)
- you'll want to use soft exfoliators and body puff from time to time to prevent in-growth
effectiveness and frequency of use depends on yr skin and hair type, but i being not very hairy, generally epilate every 4-5 days coz once you remove most of unwanted hair, you'll want to epilate sparse hairs from time to time to keep up the effect. But if you do it regularly you won't have to do full-scale epilation at all.
the only marked side-effect is that it leaves tiny short hairs of like half mm untouched, so tho they wont be visible, you may feel them when stroke upwards

I swear by mine!!
I only have to do my legs once every two weeks, just make sure you exfoliate well to prevent ingrown hairs coz they REALLY hurt.

they work and very convenient but my god..the pain...think about it...dozens of pairs of mini tweezers plucking your legs simultaneously. Think there are people (men?) somewhere who just think up new ways for women to inflict pain upon themselves.
