You need an anti-persperant/deodorant -- make sure whatever you buy says "antipersperant" on it. I have found the brand makes a lot less difference than when and how you use it. Studies have shown that antipersperant works better if you put it on at night. Yep -- at night before you go to bed. This is what I do when I know it's going to be hot and I sweat a lot:

At night: take a shower and wash the underarms really well with a mild soap. Shave the underarms. (Guys, I know it's prissy, but you will get a lot more wetness and odor control if you shave the underarm hair.) Pat underarm area dry. Make sure it is really dry. Apply your antipersperant/deodorant.

in morning: reapply antipersperant.

If you can't take a shower the night before, wash the underarms with soap and water, rinse really well, then clean the underarm area with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) wait til it's dry, apply your antipersperant.

Right now I am using Degree Solid, and it has been working well enough.

Something else you might find useful, if you are wearing really nice clothes and you don't want to sweat on them, you can get what they call "dress shields" for your underarms. Either pin them in place or use a needle and thread to tack them in at your underarm seam. This works pretty well when I can't wear an undershirt. I did this on a shirt for my husband, and he was doubtful at first, but he said later it wasn't uncomfortable, and it kept his shirt nice all day.

Secret is pretty good, and the sparkling pear one smells pretty good too....

just remember though that when looking for this products, a deodorant is just something that smells good but doesn't make you stop sweating, an antiperspirant is what makes you not sweat...

so either look for just an antiperspirant, or an deodorant + antiperspirant... dove, degree, and secret are all deodorant/antiperspirants, well, except for the sensitive skin ones that might come w/out deodorant to no irritate the skin...

Certain dry get it at your local drugstore. It closes the pores in your pits and the sweat doesn't come out. Use it sparingly cause it's very strong and can burn your skin. You might wanna supplement it with a very mild deodorant NOT an anti-perspirant/deodorant cause that might be too much for your skin and give you a rash.

Mitchum. I use it and I'm a female - I use the regular kind. It's really good ---plus I'm not allergic to it for some reason and I am to others. Oh by the way, my son sweats a lot too. He asked the doctor about it -- the doctor gave him a prescription (cream) and it really helped a lot. You might want to ask the doctor. He's not a big guy either so it has nothing to do with being overweight or anything.

Lately I've been using Secret.

I tend to switch and try different ones because I sweat a lot as well. I usually only wear white or black tops unless their tank tops and won't show the wet marks.

I went to the Shopper's Drug Mart to look for this Certain Dry, but couldn't find it...

Try Certain Dri, it is a deoderant that you put on at night. You still have to use regular deoderant in the morning, but over time the Certain Dri paralizes your sweat glads.

This may sound out of the norm but, use a medicated powder (like mexana) under your arm and it keeps you from stinking and absorbs the sweat.
