I have a learning disability and have a hard time learning things. Don't you think though it would have been better for me to drop out and find some kind of vocational job instead of sitting at school and being a burden? I tried to do well, but never could. I kept studying and doing homework, with no success.

to moviegirl, I can't succeed at anything academically and that is a proven fact. I am pretty content with doing janitorial work. If people want to judge me as a bad person for that, than so be it. I feel accepted around them better anyway.

You need to talk to your parents about what these teachers have said. These teachers have no right to discourage you. Public schools have a legal obligation to provide you with the some educational opportunities as other children who do not have learning disabilities. If you have a diagnosis of any kind of learning disability the school, at its expense, not your parents have to accommodate you, just as they would have to accommodate a kid who is blind or in a wheelchair.

I have a friend who took the school to court and won. Her son got a free tutor and special arrangements. He is bi-polar, schizophrenic, has torettes and ADHD. He graduated high school and you can too. Hang in there and don't let anyone tell you what you can and cannot do. Those are just very bad and lazy teachers.

dont be so hard on yourself. i'm not sure what kind of school this was, but it was irresponsible of them to not provide additional services to help you compensate for your disabilities. some people do have a hard time learning complex concepts, but with the proper support, you can achieve a lot more than you think you can. i do beleive that if you have something that you love or are super interested in and good at as far as a vocation is concerned, there's no shame in pursuing a vocational path that actually provides you a sense of purposefulness and satisfaction. always keep learning, no matter who brings you down, and follow your heart. a person can only be so good at something they dont truly enjoy, including schoolwork. we are all different and have unique talents and abilities. dont compare yourself to others, be the best version of you that you can be.

Get the diploma. It's worth more than experience if you drop out. Also, if you have a learning disability there is help available. You should be able to get it at your school. If you learn the best way for you to learn, you can go to college and get a really good job that will support yourself and your family (once you have one!) Trust me. Wouldn't you rather succeed?

First of all if a teacher said this to you I would report him or her to the school board. they have no business in a classroom. And never give up on yourself. Time and again I have seen many overcome handicaps of all kinds and not only succeed but thrive. you can be what ever you want to be or achieve. Try to seek out those who will support you, and there are many programs that will tutor you through the rough spots. Ask your school counselors for advice and sources of help. God Bess and don't ever give up on your self.

Because they don't live your life, you do, they cannot accomplish anything on your behalf that is your job to accomplish for yourself.

Patiently undergoing problems makes you stronger and its a blessing to keep strong and not let others shake you.

It will account for alot later in life if for no one but yourself. It will give you the self-esteem that you are not a dropout, a loser or any other negative titles they give to those who give up.

Keep the course.

Your Teachers should have never told you that you were not going to amount to anything to begin with. Show them that you can, and will succeed. Don't give up that easy!

school doesnt just teach you math, reading, and writing. it allows you to develop people skills and helps you make friends. so you've probably learned more than you think.

school isn't for everyone. so you made your choice and its okay.

I'm sorry that teachers said that stuff to you. I'm a teacher in training. my goals is the inspire my students....
