How do Al Jazeera and Muslims justify the kidnapping of journalists? You never hear of the West kidnapping Al Jazeera journalists. ( I know not ALL Muslims capture journalists, but ALL people who kidnap journalists are Muslims)

Sorry, but I do recall some South American rebels who were not Muslims that kidnapped journalists some time ago. Exceptions.

It's because Journalists have the biggest outlet--they have the MEDIA at their disposal...and they think for some reason that by kidnapping a person of the media that it will become a huge story (which it usually does)--because they usually have cameras-- and we will go right in there and negotiate with them so that our country doesn't look like a holes for not rescuing journalist....apparantely they do not realize that we do not negotiate w/terrorist regardless of the life at stake.

Because it's like playing chess... the first person you'd like to capture would be the king, but that person's well protected... so you take the less protected ones (the journalists) in the hope that you'd be able to make an impact on the ones higher in command. They would love to take soldiers too, but they're armed. Journalists are civilians, and they are not usually armed, and even when they are, they're lightly armed. It's all about evoking emotion from the society at large and from those in command.

There isn't any. But don't blame Al Jazeera -- they are just journalists, even though one might not like their take on the news of the day.

I don't get it! Journalists are not rich. They are idealist who just want to know the truth. If they kidnap a journalist, at least give him a good interview and release him. That way they will get their story out.

By kidnapping journalist, it is an almost guarantee getting coverage on medias. Other reporters and media will report this in hope their peer colleague will be saved.
Ultimately, they want media attention so that other people get their message, whatever that is.

There is no justification for it, just like there is no justification for suicide bombing. Anyone that kidnap journalist are ruthless cowards. There is no honor in harming people who are not armed.

They are the only people from the west in their area. That and they might think they may write something for them. Also, it could be all the press they get from doing so.
