Hi,
I am a student at the a local community college for the time being. My GPA in high school was't that great. I think it was a 2.0. My current GPA is 3.5. I am going to transfer to a university. I need to know which GPA is the college going to look at? When i took my SATs in high school, the score was average.I am retaking my SATs so that i can get into a good university. If they are going to look at both GPAs can someone give me the combined gpa? I am only 19 at the moment and have a whole lot ahead of me. I would really appreciate the help. Thank You!

I think they will look at the community college GPA and weigh it more than the high school GPA. They will probably look at both. It looks good though that you have a much better GPA at the community college. We all mess up a little bit in high school. If you have to write an essay I would probably talk about how you under achieved in high school and now realize the importance of school. It will show you have grown and matured.

The biggest part they will look at is your newest SAT scores and your GPA at the community college, however they may want to see your high school GPA to compare, and since your GPA has gone up it will probably show them that you are serious about further education and may help you get in.

Your college is GPA is more important.

Here is the priority of factors most college will look at:

1. College grades, GPA, course took (what courses and how vigorous are the courses)

2. SAT, ACT, AP, IB, or any other admission test you took, and the grade you received.

3. High school transcript, high school GPA

Many schools have different admission requirements depending upon how many hours you have taken at a previous university. You need to contact the admissions department at the university you are interested in attending and ask them. If you have taken enough hours, they may not be intersted in high school GPA or test scores at all.
