Yes. I've always been in favor of an ala carte form of cable TV viewing and payment structure. There are so many channels in the Basic and Enhanced packages that I never watch... but I'm paying for them. But rest assured, if such a structure came to be, it would probably either come out the same or slighter higher than the "package" deals.

YES! I absolutely agree. We don't even have cable, b/c we don't want to spend over $30 for a bunch of channels we'll never watch. I think they should charge by the channel, and then offer breaks if you get so many. Like, 25 channels =$0.50 off each channel or something. I realize this system would be somewhat difficult to implement. But they already do a version of it by blocking out premium channels. If they can block premium channels, they could block any channel you don't want and replace it with one you do! I don't have a lot of faith that this is where it's headed, though, at least not in the near future. They make more money by selling packages, and people buy the packages b/c they think they don't have a choice. Our choice is to buy DVDs of our favorite shows and watch them instead!

Besides, paying to rent all that dumb equipment is ridiculous, and most companies won't let you buy it, they require you to rent it, making you lose money.

sucks that you pay for that, try reading it is a better way to pick what you want to "see" and turn off the damn boob tube so you stop complaining about inconsequential crap.
