You mean, fix it up? YIKES, wouldn't that be a waste of money?
Try this. Take it to a mechanic who will tell you everything that is wrong with it, and what things will be going wrong soon. Offer him a FEE for his evaluation. Then LISTEN. If that cost is higher than what a replacement car would cost, then BUY another.
I aim for a car with under 50,000 and less than 5 years old. I use http://www.edmunds.com and use it as if I were SELLING a car. Then I know what kinds of cars might be in my budget.

Make a rally car out of it. Put decals all over it and run it off road. That would be cool.
