While the Jews had always wished to return to what they saw as their promised land they had little say in it at the end of the Second World War. Europe was awash with misplaced people and Jewish refugees. Britain had control of Palestine as a Protectorate. At the time (if my memory serves me well the Palestinian population then was only about 1.2 million) and it was decided that the Jews (many of whom were already residents) should, if willing, be settled there. Kenya was also considered at the time. The founding of a Jewish state was not on the agenda, Britain as a Colonial power (they still had their Empire) saw it as a solution and imposed it. They did not envisage a fight for independence either there or anywhere else in their Empire. Sadly they were wrong and now we all live with the consequences.

To say Israel does not have the right to exist is the same as saying nobody in a religious philosophical sense has the right to exist as a independent state. That said Islam, Christianity, and all of the other religious groups would not be able to act as independent nation states. If the U.S. was founded on Christianity, and uses Christianity as a foundation for various laws, and social morays then Israel can and should act in a equal manner as any other religious state. That being said a simple question could arise as to if in fact Judaism is actually a religion. History does provide us with a basis as to what races were in fact the first races to populate Palestine, and the Jews were in Palestine amongst the other races at the beginning of recorded history of Palestine.

It was never Palestine. That's a name the British slapped on the region during the Crusades

"PALESTINE?"

The term "Palestine" came from the name that the conquering Roman Empire gave the ancient Land of Israel in an attempt to obliterate and de-legitimize the Jewish presence in the Holy Land. The Roman Procurator in charge of the Judean-Israel territories was so angry at the Jews for revolting that he called for his historians and asked them who were the worst enemies of the Jews in their past history. The scribes said, ‘the Philistines." So, the Procurator declared that Land of Israel would from then on be called "Philistia" [further bastardized into "Palaistina"] to dishonor the Jews and obliterate their history. Hence the name "Palestine." One more thing. Very often one hears the revisionists and propagandists finding ancient historical links between the "Philistines" and the Arab "Palestinians." There is no truth to this claim! The Philistines were one of a number of Sea Peoples who reached the eastern Mediterranean region approximately 1250-1100B.C. They were actually an amalgamation of various ethnic groups, primarily of Aegean and south-east European origin [Greece, Crete and Western Turkey] ... but surely not of Arabian origin! These Philistines were not Arab... and neither was Goliath! The Arabs of "Palestine" are just that... Arabs! And these Arabs of "Palestine" have about as much historical roots to the ancient Philistines as Yasser Arafat has to the Eskimos!

If anything, the name "Palestine" was associated with Jews. In the years leading up to the rebirth of Israel in 1948, those who spoke of "Palestinians" were nearly always referring to the region's Jewish residents. In fact, Arab leaders rejected the notion of a unique "Palestinian Arab" identity, insisting that Palestine was merely a part of "Greater Syria."

God left the land to Muslims.
Israel stole the land (actually, they mostly bought it).
Israel doesn't have a right to exist.
We can't stand being ruled over by the scum of the earth Jews.
We can't stand watching the evil Jews build a country better than ours.

FWIW- Palestinians did not exist as a people until 1967 when Arafat 'created' this new group of people. Palestinians have no unique culture, language, heredity or customs that bind them as a people. They are mostly 1967 war refugees from Egypt and Jordan- used (very successfully) as political pawns.

The land was called Judea. The Romans renamed it Palestina after fighting a really nasty war against the Jews who lived there, and wanted to eradicate any reference to the Jews. While most Jews were scattered in Diaspora, there have ALWAYS been Jewish communities and a Jewish presence in the land. Jews began immigrating to Palestine in the late 1800's, purchasing land and building a place to live. The British mandate partition in 1947 gave land already occupied by Jews to the Jews, and land already occupied by Arabs to the Arabs. The Jews accepted this partition, the Arabs did not and started what is now known as Israel's war of Independence in 1948.

Some people will say that Israel should never have been created because the jewish people that originally existed there are not the same people who came to populate Israel.

Some will say that they shouldnt have that land because they want it.

Some will say Israel should not have been created because they are biased against jews.

Some will say that the Middle East should be only for Muslims.

Some will say many things, but who cares cos they exist. There is no point in anyone raking over history, it's what is happening now that is important, for now and for the future.

the British government GAVE away the Palestine land to the Jews after the second world war.................... my father was 6 years old
and they gave them (the Israeli army) 5 minutes to leave their house or DIE................. they won't allowed to take ANYTHING at all - not even shoes - and my father with his 6 brothers and sisters and parents had to walk hunderds of miles to Syria without even shoes........................

the Israeli es simply took over their home , their land and even their clothes.....................

over the years this hasn't stopped - everyone keeps forgetting that for hinders of years now Palestine has been Palestine and Arabs live there - but for Israel with the help of the Americans they are torching killing and humiliating the Palestinian people in their own country and now want to go into Syria and Jordan.

What is going on is worse than what was going on in SA from a apartherd point of view - but as the Israels are doing it and the Jews control the media in America (and some in UK) we are always told about how bad the Arabs are!!!!!

If the Americans feel so stong about this why don't they give them some of their land!!!!!!!!!!??????????????????

Hitler did not go to Palestine to round up the Jews. He went to Vienna Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris, etc. The Jews were not living in their so called promised land, they did not care of it. Nice place to visit but, I wouldn't want to live there, would fit how they thought at that time. After WW2, it became their total focus. It is our land, they said. If it was your land and so near and dear to your hearts, why where you living in Europe and the U.S.?

For those who do not know about the Palestinian history. may I suggest a trip to Egypt ( Luxor ) to read such history recorded over 4000 years ago.
Falestine ( correct pronunciation) is very ancient and deeply printed its history among The greatest civilisation ever.

As for Israel. They were only one tiny tribe that have already vanished once Moses is gone. They scattered here and there and dissolved over the years. These current Jews are those Asians who were converted by force in the 12th century and who GOT NO claim to the Palestinian land.
Please read your history. It is not always Hollywood history who have to accept.

Israel does not have the right to exist as a country. The Jewish nation was scattered throughout the world two thousand years ago. You cant leave home come back 20 years later and be pissed off your mom turned your room into a room for her doll collection, break all the dolls and get your dads okay to move back in.
