It is actually a very good line of product, especially in that it is all natural and won't break your skin out. Sometimes you do have to go a little heavy with it however to get a good even coverage. But, because there's nothing toxic in it, you could even sleep in that stuff! Arbonne Cosmetics are also botanically based but are lighter in weight and give better coverage after just one application. Whatever you do, if keeping toxins off your skin is a priority, stay away from lines like Clinique or MAC.

No. A lot of people love this stuff but why they do is beyond me.
The coverage is only about 70-80%, watch the application videos on Sephora and you'll see that it doesn't really make much of a difference on the girl who uses it! Besides, it's messy and difficult to blend (this is not really noticeable if you use a shade that matches your skin tone, but very obvious if you try a different shade!) and it is full of mica which adds a lot of sparkle, making it look anything but natural. Powder concealers are OK for blemishes, but they don't do anything for dark circles and tend to settle in any fine lines around the eyes. Also, powder foundations tend to magnify any dry patches on your skin. Not attractive.
If you want to try a mineral powder foundation, try L'Oreal's or order a free sample from www.everydayminerals.com. This way you'll know if you even like powder foundation without spending $60.
I think Bobbi Brown is very good for women with darker skin. There are plenty of good department store lines out there, don't listen to all the "poison" and "toxin" nonsense. All natural does not always mean better, there are plenty of botanical ingredients that are serious skin irritants themselves.

I don't know specifically if the bare essentials kit will work specifically for you, but powder make up generally works better to disguise tone issues and match unusual skin tones. I like Larenim www.larenim.com -- your best bet is to go to a counter and have a make up professional show you which products to use and how to use them. I don't know where you live, but I know there are bare escentuals displays in a lot of major cities. Larenim also has displays -- mainly in whole foods stores and health food shops.
Also -- there are natural and safe ways to work on those dark circles and uneven tones. I know it works because I am doing that myself. It will make the whole make up application process easier.

I am a black female and I went to a makeup counter a few months ago. The make up saleswoman told me that Bare Essentials does not work well on Black womens skin. She says it looks very caked up. I went to Bobbi Brown counter at Saks yesterday and found a great undereye concealer. It conceals and you can barely tell you're wearing make up. Good Luck!

I tried the bare escentuals foundation, I didn't like it, it settled into every line in my face (I never even noticed them before using this) and made my pores look huge. It was also very hard to wash it out of my makeup brushes (I had the one that came with the kit) and to wash off of my skin.
Now their eyeshadows on the other hand, those are excellent.

Honestly I tried it, and it worked wonders on me. I have horribly uneven skin tones and blemishes, the works. This stuff is awesome. I suggest you try it.

I use it and it is excellent. I love it. I will never go back to using any other foundation.

I have many family members who swear by it, especially for Black women, so I would say give it a try.
