My daughter is having a birthday party. We need ideas on a neighborhood scavenger hunt.

What have you given thought to already? Is it something you want to do around a certain the neighborhood, the house or the backyard? Perhaps even the park? If I had more details it'd be easier but as a basic note you will want to keep them entertained, so place out things that might be favorite colors, objects they like etc.. If they are able to read, use pieces of paper inside/around things that they like to look for, giving clues to the next clue.

You can even make these peices of paper fanicer the closer they get to the goal. If you want you can invole the neighbors since you said it was a "neighborhood" one, if they are the trust worthy sort. Some of the neighbors could have misleading clues that if the "hunters" read their clues closely they might not fall for. Maybe even turn it into a mystery theme. A sorta "who done it?" Where the culprit has the prize they are after.
