When did this happen? Pluto has always been a planet as far as I know. What the hell? This will mess up the whole universe!

Of course, it has only been re-categorized as a "dwarf planet" and two more, Ceres and UB313 (Xena) have also joined in the same category of "dwarf planets." Won't you (or I) miss out on a complete part of our very own solar system, in case we lost it? We are not only planning to colonize habitable planets, but Spacesoft, Globesoft, Getz, Solar System Business Machines, Disco Routers, Chiptel and Planetcom are planning to extend the reach of the Internet to include the habitable / temporarily-habitable portions of our solar system. The facility could already be existing there, in some of our man-made space-stations, so the Internet has already exceeded boundaries of the globe! Wait till ipv4 is upgraded with ipv6. The net will be able to support 2^128 IP addresses instead of the current 2^32. How I wish, Sirs Albert Einstein, Arthur C Clarke, Issac Newton, Galileo, Issac Asimov, George Gamow, Richard P Feynman, Yuri Gagarin, The Shattered Columbia Crew, etc., were near at hand...Sigh!

Yes I will. I'm sure that the next generation of kids will call me old-fashioned if I mention the name of Pluto as a Planet but then again, if there is something named 2003XJ Whatever that's bigger and is considered a planet, then I'll not be happy.

In short Pluto will be missed as a planet.

Since when does what an official body says make any difference to how most people think and feel?

If you like Jeffrey Archer novels, what difference does it make that he has been stripped of his title of Lord Archer? He is still the same person and Pluto is still the same lump of rock in space as it always was.

I will always think of Pluto as a planet. And Mickey's dog too. :)

I have to learn to stop saying, "Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto"! It makes me feel very odd. If this kind of thing can change after 76 years, is anything safe?

I suppose that I will. Obviously Neptune won't, given that their destruction of the planet is rather complete. However, given that Neptune has revealed is planetary death-ray, the solar system is now a more dangerous place now.

I for one am thrilled that Pluto has been demoted. It used to be a moon of Neptune, and it is smaller than many other moons in our system.
