If liberals are really patriotic - WHY are they advocating a losing strategy for the Iraqi war? Cut & Run = LOSING = Not Patriotic. Setting up a Time Table for Exit = LOSING = Not Patriotic. Removing Troops = LOSING = Not Patriotic.

A Patriot wants his country and countyrmen to WIN at all costs. This is not what the liberals and democrats are advocating. They are pushing losing strategies for America. WHY? WHY is the WHITE FLAG closer to your hearts than OLD GLORY? Why are you wanting all the troops that have scarficed their lives for Iraqi freedom to be wasted by pulling out? I am a TRUE PATRIOT and do not want us to leave until peace and freedom has been established! IF it takes 50 years - then so be it! It has been 50 years since WWII - and WE still have troops in Germany & Japan! Do you agree or disagree?

Plus - don't make assumtions about someone you don't know! Thanks for showing all of us, that since my comments are so close to the truth - you have no rebuttal except to ATTACK my character. That's the 1st play in the liberal handbook!

Phalse - I know your not stupid. Your just ignorant. The "Mission Accomplished" sign was leading for simpletons like your self. The banner was indicative of the Removal of Saddam & the Baathist Regime. The regime change was accomplished in 28 days therefore ending the carriers duty and hence MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

Nixon was not a patriot. If he was - then DC would have stayed out of the war and let the ground commanders run and win the war. That isn't what happened.

Contour - Publically setting up those dates is a sign of weakness and allows the terrorists to modify their plans to the public timetables. There was none of this weak crap after WWII! When we came home - is when we came home.

YES - I did say Iraqi freedom b/c when they are free, and Afgahnistan is free - it will mean freedom & democracy are spreading in the ME - WHICH in turn will help protect our freedom.

Some Liberals are some are not, some conservatives are, some are not.

It is always impossible to broadbrush a group with a single label.

You need to zero in on your question your looking for an answer to. ie: Can a person who believes we should pull out of Iraq be a patriot? or Can a person who wants the U.S to lose this war be a Patriot?

Wars are not fought by Liberals, wars are not fought by Conservatives, they are not fought by Presidents, Republicans or Democrats, they are fought by nations. All the above groups make up a nation. Patriotism is defined by how do you support your country, not whether you agree with everything your country does.

I stole this quote but it fits the genre of what you are saying;

Hermann Goering put his finger on it in 1946, not long before he committed suicide. Gustav Gilbert, an intelligence officer, interviewed him in his jail cell at Nuremberg during the war crimes trials. The transcripts of these interviews were published in 1947 in Gilbert's Nuremberg Diary. Gilbert said to Goering that in a democracy the people have some say through their elected representatives and that in the US only Congress can declare war. Goering's recorded reply was: "That is all well and good, but voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country."

Peace is Patriotic

Getting involved in foreign entanglements is just about the least patriotic thing I can imagine except trashing the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

You can bomb other people's children to pieces but for every child you kill, you create a family that will hate you. The only answer is a regime change and pulling all troops out of Iraq and Afganistan. The voting booths are rigged though so if a liberal is elected, it will be a liberal that supports war. America has been usurped by multinational corporations that could care less about America or Iraqis. It is all about the $$.

I agree that liberals are not patriotic. Then again, Liberals are not meant to be patriotic. Liberals think they are protecting the interests of the world, not just the U.S.

Since America is one of the most powerful countries in the world, the Liberals feel that this country should be held the most responsible for what happens as a result of our needs and wants. Unfortunately, this causes some zealous idiots *cough* Michael Moore *cough* most celebrities *cough* to end up saying something stupid like "America is to blame for the world's problems" or something like that. Liberals also believe that we are mostly going to Iraq for Oil, and almost completely ignore Al Queida, Osama Bin Laden, and other threats. I also believe that the only reason Liberals are supporting our troops is because they don't want to treat the fine men and women defending our country like the people did during the Vietnam War. After all, a liberal friend told me that "It's not the soldier's fault we are at War."

I have no idea when Liberals decided that this type of belief (protecting the world) was necessary, but they do. Their second objective is to destroy all religion in this country, although I don't think they realize that is what they're doing. Many Liberals feel that any law that is not promoting peace and love should be obliterated, and even the faint whiff of some long forgotten or perceived racism should be obliterated. We must remember that the American constitution and the majority of its laws were created by Christians, and just because religion was involved doesn't mean that those laws were bad ideas. Also, we cannot - and should not - remove all traces of these laws involving religion.

Speaking as a Liberal who turned moderate after witnessing the blunders of this political party, I agree that We should continue fighting until our objectives are complete. However, Liberals wish to end the war because they do not believe that Iraq has done anything wrong, and we should leave them alone because of this belief.

BTW: Not all Liberals are like this. This is just my belief based on a large portion of those that I do know.

Disagree wholheartedly.

We went there under false pretenses
People want some answers on a strategy or rough idea of conditions that would warrant a troop withdrawal. Not vague answers like, when there is peace or when they can stand on their own. There are no real plans given by the administration.
There will be NO peace there for generations if ever. Iraq was a conglomeration of 3 countries. We will not change their culture which has developed over 100's of years. They have a different value system than ours-- it won't change and frankly I don't care.

Iraq war is costing us 100's of billions of dollars and many billions have been simply LOST. Where are the fiscal conservatives on that one? Largely silent is where.

There are been huge failure all througout the war. We have no faith that they can fix this.

Germany and Japan troops are more an artifact of the cold war than simply a hold-over from WWII. but let's not fool ourselves, we will likely never leave Iraq.

Win at all costs-- are you stuipid? Are you wiling to ruin this country and run it into the ground to "win at all costs"? I'm not, I don't give two sh*ts about Iraq.

disagree...the current administration is supporting a losing policy, and enacting it as well. They are NOW claiming that they never said to stay the course, but that they have always supported a policy of 'adapt to win' (formerly known as cut and run) I think that we should leave, and let some other country take over for awhile, as our presence is hurting our efforts, not helping them. If we leave, and let someone else police, we can re enter at a later date, when the Iraqi people may be more accepting of our help. This is a disaster, and the dems have always said that we need more troops on the ground. Bush thought that the Iraqis would welcome us with open arms, and help us to help them. That didn't happen. He really should listen to what people around him are suggesting, especially those that have been there (Colin Powell). If we have a winning strategy, I would agree, but right now, we don't. Not even the reps, who put us there to begin with.

I like your determination. The fact is the American people were duped into supporting the war in the first place. Since we are there it is only fair we finish what we started. If people don't support the war they should think about the void we'll leave when we leave. We should pull some troops out as a good faith jesture that we won't be there forever. I disagree with your premise that having a different point of view makes you unpatriotic. That is democracy and like it or not people don't always agree. That is what makes this country great. We can dispute our differences without killing each other. God Bless America.

When it works for them.

Liberals just want what they want and will use any excuse to get it. - Freedom of speech, equal rights, the constitution, patriotism, but when it goes against their cause (gun rights for example) they forget those excuses they gave.

But don't be fooled. We haven't had a real conservative leading this country since Ike.

The Republicans in office now are NOT conservative and don't give a rats **** about the constitution.

This country is being run by a shadow govt. whose purpose is to create a "world union" at our expense. Why else would we be:

1 openening our borders.
2 giving away our industries to communist China,
3 give away foreign aid like it's water
4 taking away constitutional rights
5 giving up American lives so that a bunch of warring savage tribes can have a glimmer of civilization (which they will not hold on to).

It's quite evident, you are sorely lacking in intellectual capacity. You've got the definition of "Patriotism" wrong. "Setting Up A time Table For Exit" , and "Removing Troops", have NOTHING to do with "Losing", or anti-Patriotism. Setting timetables for troop removal, and installing Iraqi police, and troops has always been the goal of our involvement in Iraq. You should think before you write.

I somewhat disagree with you on this. My thoughts are this. I think the liberals are patriots if they have held there view threw the good and bad times of the iraq war, regardless of which side they were on. The flip floppers on both sides, I believe are not acting patriotic when they change based on poll results. But the idea that if we continue to do the same thing in this war, I believe is the same definition for insanity. If you continue to do the same thing, but expect different results. That is where we are going in this war in my opinion, GW needs to think outside of the box to actually win this war.

I am patriotic because I care about Americans. Look at what you said, "Iraqi freedom", not american freedom. I don't give a flying **** about iraqi's freedom. This war is not about american freedom. Besides the real enemy Bin Laden is still free. Why do you care so much about the Iraqi people? Let them kill each other I don't care.
