It is suggested about 8 for a typical healthy adult. Though I have met some people who survive and run perfectly well on 4 hours sleep. Me I love my bed so as much as I can get...

I've always heard 7-8 hours are reccomended for adults.
However, I can only sleep for about 6 hours a night, anymore and I'm sluggish all day.

It's different for everyone, some need 10 and some only need 5 or 6! I think it's called R.E.M sleep...it's when you wake up and you only thought you were sleeping for like 10 minutes but it was more like four or five hours...that happens because your were in REM sleep. I can't remember what it stands for though.
Just figure out what works best for you!

It all depends on the individual person and his personal
activity and habits, such as work, exercise, eating, drinking,
age, health and other circumstances. However, I would say
the average is 8 hours, give or take a little.
