That depends on the nature of business as well as the size of company.
Let's say the company is small and homegrown. so, you will have much more responsiblities and have to take care of cross functional areas. These Include :
i) Looking after the day to day operations of the company. This may include seeing the operations, provisioning for input materials, seeing if the production is going on normally as per the plans, sending the output to customers/dealers
ii) Making the business plans such as how to grow the revenues/profits of the company, looking after the financial aspects of the balancesheet etc.
iii) Making sales pitch to customers.
iv) Looking after the human resources/workers in the company, like hearing their grievances, recruitments etc.

If the comapny is big and u're at a higher level then you will get all the data and the reports by the mid level managers. You need to read all those reports and make business decisions based on them.

The most important thing you need to remember if you are a manager is that the keyword is "Responsiblity".
You are solely responsible for the performance of the business function, so you will have to look at all the ways by which you can sustain it's growth, be it cost cutting measures, making new sales pitches, introducing new plans/products/starategies etc.
