I think it leads to that assumption, however I do not believe that. You can get an STD from sleeping with one person. It just depends on who you sleep with and who they have slept with. Sure, the more promisquious you are, the higher the chances of contracting an STD, but every person that has an STD isn't promisquious.

No - it does not equal promiscuity. You can get an STD without actually having sex. If you touch one another in your genital area and one of you has an STD, it is possible to contract the STD, especially if you touch yourself in a soft tissue area (eye, ear, nose, mouth, genital) without washing your hands first. Please be very careful and save any kind of sexual activity for someone you want to spend your life with. It's not worth getting that stuff. I know this because I work in a Crisis Pregnancy Center and we see a lot of sad stuff. If you want more information on this, call your local CPC - they should have loads of info on this.

STDs are spread by promiscuity, but you don't have to be promiscuous to get one. Your chances of infection are high if you have sex with someone who has had many partners, and higher if you have many partners yourself. The only 100 percent sure way not to get one would be celibacy, or total abstinence from sex before marriage to someone who has practised total abstinence and is totally faithful.

It's a myth that condoms protect from STDs. They lower the risk, they don't eliminate it!

Promisquity is sleeping with a lot of people.

STD means you slept with at least one person who had it.

No they are not the same.

I am a nurse and have had many patients who were faithful to their partner but came up with an std, that does not make them promiscuous and is very unfourtunate

Actually, STD equals stupidity, not promiscuity.
If a person has unprotected sex outside of a monogamous relationship....they get what they deserve.

I think STD equates to not being mature enough to have sex.
Whether you are promiscuous or not, you need to be smart, and protect yourself.
Good question

It's not the same thing. To think so equals ignorance.
