A laptop is much easier. You can use it to make notes in the lectures themselves if the tutor doesn't mind. Mine came in very helpful I could plug into the luibrary in Uni and charge up. It meant I always had my notes with me. One time when I couldn't print off the work I was able to prove to my tutor that I had completed my assignment by showing her the completed work on the computer. They also fit at the bottom of your cupboard leaving you more room to fill your desk with pics, bottles or general junk. Great for carting back and fore on the trains and buses.

Laptop if you plan on carrying it around. It isn't even that useful though. No better than pen and paper for taking notes, and a desktop will do just as much and more than it in your room.
If you plan on living in dorms(and especially if you want to play games in your spare time), a desktop is fine. If you are commuting to school, a laptop would be preferable if you have any long breaks between class.
Just depends.

Laptop probably, but take a full sized keyboard and external mouse, and stick the laptop on a pile of books so it's at eye height and doesn't do your back in typing. Make sure it has a CD writer to back up essays / research, and get it insured. (You may leave it in the bar.)
Have fun at Uni! :)

I have a laptop and would probably prefer a mini tower. There's no room for customisation and hardware repair is next to impossible, which is especially annoying given the fact that the things die so much more easily than desktops.

Laptop is the best gadget to bring to University compare with PC because it`s much more convenience to bring to any where such as library, class room, etc

Desktops aren't particularly portable, so it's probably best to get a laptop, but get it insured cos someone will want to nick it.
