Buffalo Wings were invented at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo NY by the owner Teressa Bellisimo. The story goes that some hungry visitors entered the bar after the kitchen was closed. Normally, before this time, many people just THREW AWAY the chicken wings when preparing chicken dishes, because they were thought to be not meaty enough and difficult to eat. Anyway, Theresa decided to whip something up so I believe she tossed the wings into the deep fryer and then sauteed them in Frank's Hot Sauce (basically a tobasco sauce) and some butter.

The patrons RAVED about the wings and eventually the bar decided to add them to the menu. Other establishments around town followed suit - some modifying the recipe slightly here and there - and before long the word got out to other cities and whenever you whipped up hot spicy wings you called them "Buffalo wings"!

Because the sauce and recipe were developed at a well known Bar called the Anchor Bar in Buffalo NYthat Canadians and Americans alike frequented for a lot of years and it was our little secret.
Someone from Frank's Lousiana Hot Sauce heard about it and the rest is history.

Lucky I have to original recipe, my brother frequented the Anchor Bar enough that they gave him the recipe . Rather than deep fry mine , not good for the cholersterol , I bake mine.... they're so goooooooooooood!

Buffalo wings are chicken wings that have a tabasco or hot sauce on them. The sauce is sometimes a butter and hot sauce mixture that the wings are drowned in after cooking them, usually cooked by frying. They're my absolute favorite. I think Chilli's has the BEST!!!
