My IBM computer recently stopped working due to spyware and viruses and I therefore need to reformat the drive to start over. Does anybody know what site or where can I go to buy/order the discs I need to reformat my drive?

I recommend you try all possible spyware/virus solutions first. Reformatting will ERASE ALL DATA on the HD. And tha's only a high-level reformat (which can be done using the relevant OS process). A low-level reformat can make your HD totally unusable by the computer.

NOTE: if you want to defrag the HD to try to resolve the problem, be aware some viruses & other nasty stuff can screw with the HD catalog & so drefragging can have unpredictable results.

AGAIN - try every software solution first - unless you don't have a separate boot disk - in which case you might just be screwed - everyone has to learn once, it seems really pointless making a boot disk......until you actually need one & then it's too late.

Also, various OS's offer restore points - is this an option for you ?

If you have a windows 98, XP, etc installation disk you can do a reformat of your entire drive by reinstalling.
