Yes ! Always dress professionally when you go out to get job applications, you never know who is going to give it to you, or who is watching, and if you are dressed inappropriately, it could be a strike against you. Remember, you only get one chance to make a first impression. Happy Job Searching

depending on the place, if its a corporate office jeans are fine but wear a nice shirt and a blazer and some heels, if its like target or something just wear your jeans and a nice shirt with nothing hanging out. I would always go even if im just filling an application out nicely dressed because it shows ur professional and serious about the job. And just some advice ALWAYS fill the application at the place, this is so when u give it to the manager they can put your face with the application and also it shows your eager for the job

But how do you know it's not your future boss handing you the application? Always dress as though you were going to be interviewed that day, you never know.; That might be the case. Some do not give walk out apps.. but rather conduct interviews on a walk-in basis.

if its a large firm you will never get past the secretary of HR. who will coldly say "the form is located in the tray on the left" and then go back to answering the phone. So it doesn't matter at all.
But if its a small business, or family run, then dress business casual.

I say dress business casuel. If the person giving you the app has any pull with management and you don't represent yourself well. They may put in a bad word for you before you even get there. I know it should not be this way.......but I have seen it.

Of course, it is good to wear a suit for this kind of things............but, as it's said that people are greeted by their appearance and but in the end they judge u by your mind: if your stupid no suit will help you!!!
An other important factor is cleanliness and tidiness....... better to wear clean jeans than a dirty suit from Armani.
Good luck and don't be nervous!!!! it's all wright to wear jeans as long as their clean!!
