Its unfortunate that people think the worst about everyone else. If someone is accused of a crime, people automatically think they are guilty. Sometimes even when found innocent people often still believe the person is guilty. Strange but true.

For the protection of the people, it is better to be guilty until proven innocent.
Would you like a murder suspect to be held in jail until being proven guilty (guilty until innocent) or out free until proven guilty (innocent until guilty)
it is safer for the public for you to have to prove your innocence.

You need to give examples of specific cases and situations. It may seem that way, but nothing has changed. In fact with the prison overpopulation, more people are getting out on probabtion than ever before. Our justice system is unchanged.

I think it still applies in the courts of law. In the courts of public opinion everyone is judged immediately on how good looking or charming they are or whether the press perceives them as being guilty.

What's the matter with you people? If the police arrest you due to mistaken identity or something (happens all the time), you'll be very happy that the constitution gives you protections against police misconduct, whether they are incompetent, corrupt, or just honestly doing their job. These laws don't protect "criminals", they protect ALL OF US.

I believe in the judicial system in many countries. That is my opinion.
However, to answer your question.... the media. People tend to be "tried by the media" before they ever reach a courtroom. That is unfortunate and unfair.
