Never gave it a second thought until I married one. And, though strange - prone to odd songs at football games, somewhat bland cuisine, and a serious lack of sun, they are a great country and people. Funny (Eddie Izzard, French and Saunders, Rowan Atkinson), thrilling history to read about, nice places to visit (The Tower, the Plague Village).

I like the English…without England I wouldn’t be speaking my bastardized version of English. Without England I would feast on fish and chips. Without England I wouldn’t have had all of the Revolutionary War history that I had to study in school. Without England Sir Anthony Hopkins would just be Anthony Hopkins. Without England we wouldn’t have “Whose Line is it Anyway” in the US. Without England I wouldn’t have had the Spice Girls to drool all over in the 90’s (Bananarama in the 80’s.) Led Zeppelin…need I say more.

All of this and you have cool accents. What’s not to like?
