If i were u i would go for a mac. It's worth the price, and the macbook is cheaper than a dell. Plus, mac's are faster, low maintence, and do not require virus protection! Just ask the people at the store, they're really helpfull, compared to best buy and that stuff. Mac's will do everything to maintain itself without any effort from u except clicking ok.

I would suggest an Acer TravelMate or Aspire latop since they are not as expensive as a Dell, HP/Compaq, or Toshiba. The one I have is perfect for what you want to do and is upgradable. I use an Acer Aspire 3620 series. Plus, the tech support from Acer is outstanding and they also add an international warranty and performance enhancing software on the laptop (which very few companies do these days).

it really depends on what ur doing with it, anything can download music and write papers, almost anything can play movies, NOT everything has a battery that lasts more than an hour, or is small enough to be carried daily, some look nicer, some are butt ugly... theres no "right" answer, atleast not with the very small ammount of info you have given. and trust me, i build computers for a living, and im not talking about in a factory.
