If you've ever been on a plane, they always tell you to turn off your cell phone. This is so because the frequency of some cell phones messes with plane communication and instruments. This is only for Voice transmissions. If you can get a digital siginal, technically you are allowed to text but do nothing with voice. If you go on a plane you should turn phone transmissions off. After you get off the plane, you can turn them back on. Most of the time, you can't get a texting signal in the sky and would most likely turn off the phone.
