My grandma took me to the Mall of America on Monday to take me shopping for clothes for school. We had a total disaster of a time because she bascially called my preferences crap but when I asked her where she wanted to go, she wouldn't tell me. She's really weird about fashion, she says she wants to buy me "Fall clothes", but I'll wear a pair of jeans in the summer just like I would in the winter. So, my question is, she still wants to take me to the Mall of America, does anybody know any stores there that a 78 year old wouldn't mind going into to buy clothes for an 18 year old? My favorite store there is Hollister, her's is Nordstrom. I don't know!?!

I think American Eagle would be a good store because they have clothes kind of like Hollister but they don't come as tight and skanky looking.

I would skip the shopping trip with your grandmother, dear. It sounds as though the two of you are at odds about fashion (which would be normal considering she is 78 and you are 18). Since you are indeed 18, you are old enough to go and buy your own clothes. Why don't you and grandma just go out to lunch. Shopping together will only cause more fighting. Neither you nor she is right or wrong, by the way, you both are worlds apart in age and outlook.

When shes dead it wont really matter now will it, enjoy spending time with your grandma even if its at a store with clothes that make you look like a total DORK! Now go to your room! OH yea and you should be buying your own clothes anyway at your age. Remember to wear the clothes you get from Granny only when you go visit her!

I love grandparents they're so hilarious. Anyway, from my expreince with shopping with my grandma, they like those department store's like you mentioned Nordstrom or Macy's. My grandma likes to shop at Chico's I don't know if you have it there. Also Banana Republic, Coldwater Creek, and similar places. Hope this helps.

If there is a Mervyn's in your area, you should check it out. They have updated their clothing lines for all ages. Also try J. C. Penney. They also have clothes for young & old alike.
