While on my period, I'm passing these bloody clot-looking things a lot. My flow is very heavy and I have some intense cramps. I've been having this "issue" for about 6 months now. I just turned 31 a few months back so I don't think age is a factor. I'm too embarrassed to ask any of my friends of doctor.

Input is much appreciated. :)

that sounds like my period. im 31 also, but have had heavy periods since my 20's and the clots almost every month since then. when i asked my doctor (which you should do if you're worried) she said that it was normal, and that some women just clot more than others.

if youre passing anything that looks pink/grey you will want to contact your doctor because that may be tissue and there may be an issue that needs attention.

If this is a change, you really should ask your doctor about it. However, I can understand your reluctance. I also pass bloody clot-looking things, but I always have and generally do not have cramps. This could be a change due to you age. I have notice that my flow has gotten heavier over the past few years as well. I am 31.

Go to a good gyn. If he recommends surgery then go get another opinion. I am always Leary of Dr's who want to do surgery right away. But your body may be dealing with hormone changes. Also I use to do that as I had a lot of miscarriages in the first 3 or 4 weeks of pregnancy. When I was trying to get pregnant. I was told 9 out of 10 conceptions do not take so I just did not worry about it. But go see your doctor because now they have many better things than they did a half a century ago.

I had this same problem in my mid-late 20s (I'm 33 now) I saw a doctor and he said this is normal, but could be caused by hormonal changes. So I went on the pill to lighten up my periods and to regulate them. It was fabulous! I knew exactly when I was going to have my period and I didn't worry about leaks. Don't be afraid to go to the doctor about this. I recommend a female GYN, and if you are still nervous take a friend or your mom with you. The doctor has heard it all before. Good luck.

Okay...
Are you sure the clots are not part of your menstruation? You know, the lining that builds up in your uterus sheds every month and is passed out with the menstrual liquid. The lining comes out in pieces and can resemble clots.

Also, have you lost or gained weight recently? This can change your menstrual cycle. Have you had children recently? This can cause you to have wicked periods. Does Midol not alleviate your cramps? (I like extra strength Midol) If not, you need to go to the doctor.

Age might be a factor, but I know myself that I had the same problem as I got older and so have alot of my girlfriends. The ob-gyn says it was normal. The intense cramps is from the clotting material (sloughing cells from your uterus) passing through your cervix. You should call your doc; he might can give you something to ease the pain or recomment something else like a d&c. Anyway, don't suffer.

Do not be embarrased! Heavy menstrual flow with cramping can be symptoms of some gyne conditions. Maybe it's nothing, but you should have it checked. Anything out of the ordinary can be a sign of something. Maybe fibroids. Some women have cramps everytime they have their period but if you felt it only for the last 6 months, girl have yourself checked. Some cancers are easily treated on early detection. Good luck

Some women do suffer from clots during their period yes and bad cramps.Plz do not be anxious with regards to visiting gp as you need to describe full syptoms to them it may also be endometriosis when the lining of the womb becomes excessively clotted and expels these clots during your period. You may also find if your bleeding excessively heavy you can suffer from anaemia. You really need to go see gp or well woman clinic just to make sure it is all confidential and i'm sure they have seen many cases similar to yours throughout their career as doctors.

Some small clots are normal during your period. But if they are bigger and you are having that bad of cramping, you need to talk with your doc. I have the same problem and it turns out my doctor thinks I have adenomyosis. (similar to endometriosis, but the only thing that gets rid of it is a hysterectomy)

don't b ashamed. i pass those too. every womens body is different. some months is lighter than others. it doesn't mean that something medical is wrong. as a women the whole reason for the period is the cleanse the body. it might just b alot of junk up there that needs to come out. you're not alone. (it does look nasty though)
