Looks like in todays news NEOCONS have yet again decided they are judge and jury. Where/when will they stop?

Spontaneous lovebirds and celebrities take note: there won't be any more early morning quickie marriages in Vegas. After years of sanctioning hastily made matches, the Las Vegas marriage bureau plans to close its all-night counter. County officials approved a new 8 a.m.-to-midnight schedule that will take effect next Wednesday, eliminating 24-hour marriage license service on Fridays, Saturday and holidays.

Actually, if you study the origins of the word that the Bible used before it was interpreted with the word divorce, the practice Jesus spoke out against was putting aside women who could then not remarry and were left without support and they became outcasts. It's not the same thing as our modern day divorce. I'm a Christian and there is nothing about excluding a group of people that preserves sanctity. We will one day look back and wonder why we treated gays so badly and misused the Bible. We once did the very same thing to justify the keeping of slaves. We will progress, someday.

They are only discontinuing the license availability, the all-night wedding chapels could continue just the people wouldn't be able to get the license 2-minutes before the ceremony.
I think there should be waiting periods between license & ceremony. People take marriage too lightly.

Who really needs to get married quickly? Makes no sense. Some do it on whims or bets. It makes wedded bliss out to be a joke. Maybe that is why so many divorces. I know several people who have been married 8 times. What the hell is that about? I think Vegas feels the same way........who NEEDS to get married fast.

Good, if I can't marry my husband of 16 years then they should not be able to marry someone they just met at a casino.

Sorry if I sound harsh - but if the majority of American's want to 'defend marraige' they need to start with the people causing the problems now.
