I am a political independent. I refuse to follow the scripted stance of either of the political parties, and choose to vote for the individuals who I honestly believe are the best for the job, regardless of the label put upon their campaigns. It means I can't vote in the primaries (also usually meaning the candidate I think is best gets knocked out early), so there are drawbacks.

Democrat, because I care for everyone, not just the rich.
It amazes me that the religious right is so identified with the Republican Party when the Bible says Jesus said to love one another and what you do for others you do for him. That sounds like the antithesis of what the GOP is all about to me.

I am Democrat, parents were democrat, and all family members are Democrat.
Because Republicans are for rich people, wars, raising taxes, and their pay. They don't care about anyone but themselves.
Democrats are for the working poor! Democrats care about us poor folks who have to work our butts off to try to pay bills.

I personally don't much care, but my husbands family are diehard Rebublican, so I usually vote that way so I don't get "kicked" out of the family.
