well I have lived my whole life here, except for a few trips abroad, and I can tell you this.
Racism.- You shouldn't worry about having problems for your ethnicity in Mexico, we have very little problems of this kind.
High School.- If you decide to come I would recomend the Tecnologico de Monterrey, it has 3 campus around the city. The level is very high and you can take your classes in english.
People.- The people are great, very friendly and the night life is very varied from electronica, to latino music and the whole range of music in between.
Crime.- This is the only point I don't like my city, it's quite unsafe at night, with some kidnapping and robbery in the streets, but not much more than in any major city of the world.
History.- You have a whole place to visit, from teotihuacan and major temple of prehispanic story, the whole center of the city from colonial times and lots of museums you can visit like Archaeology, Frida Kaho and Diego Rivera, in the hippie zone of Coyoacan.
In my opinion you should try coming to mexico city, and live the experience and live in one more country through your life, any comments or doubts don't hesitate on contacting me

I´m from Mexico and as one south american told me, Mexico has the cultural heritage of the American continent. Mexico city, like any other mayor city is hectic, offers very diverse and different attractions, lots of cultural places. I believe Mexico City is ranked on third place world wide for having many museums. Offers first rate schools and universities, very good and diverse restaurants, bars and night clubs, good weather, and within a 3 and a half hour drive you have Acapulco which is sunny and has great weather almost yeaar round.
People in Mexico are much more sophisticated, educated and cosmopolitan than in the USA.
The down side of Mexico city are pollution, traffic and insecurity.

What part of mexico are you moving too? Mexico is a beautiful place and with any move it takes time that all I can say. People are generally nice but learn the value of the dollar that the most important think you need to know.

Well Mexico is a huge country, just like the US or India. There are areas where there is a lot of industry, like Monterrey, and areas where things are very poor. Generally speaking, the further south you go, the poorer the people. This changes the life style dramatically.
The people are very friendly and welcoming. The roads are generally not as good as the US, the schools are good but some lack extras (the university I went to didn't have electricity.)
Too bad for your screen name - they like some spicy food!

Ehhh, Im surprised you are not sure where you're going... Mexico City is the Capital, known there as DF (District Federal) and New Mexico is in the United States.... Even you'll find lots of mexicans in New Mexico its not really part of the Mexican Republic. It seems you are going to live in one of the 50 states of the USA.

Hey, well I moved to NY when I was 3, from India.
I haven't moved anywhere else, but to answer your question...at age 13...you dont really have a choice, unless your parents are willing to give custody to an aunt or uncle, so you can finish up school. If I was you, I would go. There is no better experience in life than to live it with a diverse crowd. Might even help you become a WORLD leader in the future.

OKAY first where in Mexico are you possibly moving. The government schools are terrible. Sounds like your family does not have money problems so you will go to Private school From my own daughters experience I can tell you the Private schools here are way ahead of the schools in the US. Many Private schools here are run by the Jesuits so they must be good. People are friendly and many Private school students here are in Exchange students.
You will not have any problem, believe me.

It depends on what part of Mexico you are moving to. Generally, people are very friendly and welcoming and race is not an issue.

Away from the American border, Mexico is more like European places than North American places.
THe people are mostly friendly and accepting.
Race isn't as much of an issue, either.
