I think so. Therapy would probably get into deeper issues than marraige. Marriage counselors may have a different degree and are there for more moral support than handing out answers. My husband and I went to a Marriage/Family Counselor and it felt like she was there to listen to us and offer advice but it didn't go real deep into details. Just helped us work through differences. I guess we'd need therapy if there were bigger issues involved. Good luck!

Let's start with the difference between therapy and counseling for now. I am guessing that therapy would involve a licensed psychiatrist, whereas counseling could involve any kind of licensed (or even unlicensed) counselor, including, but not limited to clergy or a psychologist.
This is only a guess. Hopefully, someone with credentials will come along and answer the quesion more thoroughly.

There is no difference, counsellors are therapists. They are just words. Counselling/therapy is about working on how to best deal with the problem at hand, not as one person said, telling you what the problem is. You go to a therapist/counsellor because you do have a problem, not to be told what the problem is. Therapist/counsellors give you tools to handle certain emotional problems in your life, but mainly they are there to listen, guide and suggest. Most people have the ability to sort out their own problems, counsellors just bring it out in you. There is a lot of myths about going into therapy, and people may brand you "crazy" Hell, you would be the least craziest person to seek help to sort out a problem that is causing you pain. A counsellor/therapist is not there to tell you what to do, he/she does not sit in judgement on you. If I could sum up counselling/therapy it would be to say if you want to find your own personal power, then try therapy/counselling.

Well it is like asking when is a pond considered a lake. They both contain water but it is much easier to drown in a lake.

Yes but they both pry in your business and try to tell you what the problem is
