you just need to distribute all the factors and simplify
6[5x+9(8y-4x)-9] +2(9y-6x) -4x=6[9y-2x(7-4)
6[5x+56y-36x-9] +18y-12x -4x=6[9y-2x(3)]
6[56y-31x-9] +18y-12x -4x=6[9y-6x]
336y-186x-54 +18y-12x -4x=54y-36x
318y-202x-54=54y-36x
318y-54y-202x+36x=54
264y-166x=54

x and y are variables

6[5x+9(8y-4x)-9] +2(9y-6x) -4x = 6[9y-2x(7-4)]
6[5x+72y-36x)-9] + 18y-12x -4x = 54y - 36x
-186x + 432y - 54 + 18y - 16x = 54y -36x
-202x + 450y -54 = 54y - 36x
-202x + 450y -54 + 202x = 54y -36x +202x
450y -54 = 54y + 166x
450y -54 -54y = 54y + 166x -54y
396y -54 = 166x
(396y -54) (divided by 166) = 166x (divided by 166)
2 32/83y - 27/83 = x

That's the best I can do with no calculator. (I'm at the library.) You'd better check my work, it looks pretty strange. If they said you could have help I suggest you ask how before using any of the answers you get on here.

Vinay got it.

6[5x+9(8y-4x)-9] +2(9y-6x) -4x=6[9y-2x(7-4))
6(5x+72y-36x-9) +18y -12x -4x=6[9y-6x)
30x + 432y - 216x - 54 + 18y -12x -4x = 54y-36x
x(30 - 216 - 12 - 4 + 36) = y(-432 - 18 +54) + 54
-166x = -396y + 54
166x = 396y - 54
82x = 198y - 27

Do the parenthesis first
6[5x+72y-36x-9]+18y-12x-4x=6[9y-14x+14x]
Then do the brackets
6[-31x+72y-9]+18y-12x-4x=8[9y]
Then....
-186x+432y-54+18y-12x-4x=72y
Then..............
-202x+450y-54=72y
Last but not least................
-202x-54=-378y

Oh, now to find the value of x and y........
To find x divide each side of the equation by -202 (which is 1.8712) and to find y just divide each side by =-378 (which is .534391).

Check using substitution!!!

You can simplify the problem by doing all the math and adds. I didn't check my work, but I think this simplifies to:

-16x + 396y -9 = 0

But as someone said, one equation and 2 variables means you can only solve one in terms of the other.
