My bf and I are goign to Cancun in a month and he is so pale he is practically see through. If he goes in the sun for even a half hour he burns. I was thinking of possibly putting him in a tanning bed, with sun screen for just a few minutes to help him get a base tan for the next couple of weeks so he won't burn so badly in Mexico. Is this a good idea? Or is there another way anyone can suggest?

yes anyone can tan..including blck people and irish...you just have to use the right product for the skin and right amount of sunlight..by product i mean tanning lotion you can look for them on line...make sure he also uses a sunblock after if he burns put on his face or body sour cream..you'll find plenty of that in mexico..have fun

get him in a bed for sure! I mean a tanning bed....
I am pale too, Irish too...and I went in a bed for 15min one day, then in two days 20 min. Then I checked the burn level..how hot I felt in the sun, etc. Then I waited a day and did 20 min. Checked out how I felt burned or tanned, then just went in for 3 more times and then on vacation. I still burned, but not as bad, not like if I didnt have some base color.
Then there's always tshirts and long lightweight pants....

First off, Irish people can get tan. However if his skin is very pale, he may want to go to a tanning bed for only a few minutes, 4, and get up to like 8 minutes. Also, buy a sunscreen that has at least an SPF of 30 in it and make sure he wears it and reapplies it every few hours.

If you consider freckles to be tan, then the answer is yes. Make sure he has an industrial strength sunblock. Skin cancer is no fun. A nice hat is a good choice and natural fiber clothing...cotton is a good one and so is linen. Tanning bed are unhealthy. Have fun. Mexico is a lot of fun.

tanning bed will work. I am an irish burner, and this year I used a tanning bed, and rarely burned. Still use lots of spf in the sun!

i'm irish and i usually burn when i go out in the sun. i can get somewhat tan but don't make the make the mistake i did and go out in the really hot sun without sunscreen. trust me the burn really hurts

Wow. You don't even deserve your boyfriend. I can't believe you're stressing over him not being tan!? What is wrong with you? How about getting to KNOW him for who he is? As an irish person, I'm offended by your ignorance. I personally hope that he sees how FAKE you are, and breaks up with you. He obviously deserves better.

I think she should get a mystic spray on tan and wear a high SPF. She will burn easily and your trip will be ruined if she does try to tan.

welll i have lots of irish family and its real hard for them to tan..first they burn red then they freckle like crazy then finally they barely get tanner but it is a good idea to put him in the tanning bed..that would work better but he would need to only stay a few minites[not too long] because he will burn like in the sun
