I believe so. They can cause all kinds of problems.

Starting with jealousy in the work place.
You have each person constantly watching the other to see what they are doing and who they are talking to.
You have other employees wondering if you are getting ahead and promotions by sleeping with the other party.
And then there is always the "what if"....what if yall split up, who is going to end up leaving the company because you will definitely not be able to work around each other any more.

And this is only part of the reasons.

Although a workplace affair seems so very tempting, it really isn't a good idea when you take a look at all the possible consequences in the future. It's really difficult to separate work and the personal relationship, meaning you could see each other outside of work only, but the feelings are always there during work and could very well interfere with duties and other office relationships.

Any kind of affairs should be avoided, but if you use the term affair just merely as description of a relationship with someone in your workplace then its up to the individual how you would feel about still working with them should it all go pear shaped, if its a small company it may be difficult in the end

Depends on the size of the workplace. Not good in a small work enviroment as you can't avoid them if all goes sour.

Speaking from experience I am currently in that situation. We work in the same office. I will admitt it is fun and exciting but it has its moments. Its like how do you act, what do you say? Plus his mom is the boss. So that makes it hard as well. We are keeping it hush hush but how long can that go on? In the end I say try to avoid it. It just complicates things.

Any affair should be avoided. If you want to go out side your marriage just get a divorce.

it depends on the two ppl who are trying to get hooked up. I met my fiance at the orkplace, she was a teacher as well, we kept it on the hush and kept ppl out of our buisness. Some ppl had questioned if we were a couple but we denied it, told em we were old friends from high school. Now we're engaged and will be getting married next year.

Hmmm. Not all the time. If you are working under close conditions with this person, then it may cause quite a few conflicts.

What happens if he/she were to get promoted? Become your boss, or even the manager? People may feel that he/she would treat you better, and therefore unfairly.
