It is only the best book ever written (after the Bible, but it is easier to understand then the Bible). I've never seen a more engaging character than Edmond Dantes, I can almost feel the love myself with Mercedes. I honestly felt happy for Maximilien and Valentine at the end of the book as well, and while the message does sound kind of cheesy at the end, I like it a lot. Wait and hope.

I adore the book. I had to read it in high school but they only gave us the abridged version. I just read the unabridged version (which is like 10 times as long) a few months ago and fell in love with it all over agian. I don't like a lot of his other works as much though. I never made it through 3 musketeers.

I have read the book when I was a teenager and I have seen the new interpretation movie of the book, where the main character was Jim Caviezel. Very nice and very well represented!!

This has been my favorite book ever since my aunt recommended it to me in middle school. I love how Edmond got revenge on all those who had him arrested... And he still got the girl.
I found out the book was actually based on a true story. A man named Francios Picaud was accused of being an English spy by a group of friends in 1807. He was imprisoned in a castle... the name escapes me... and inherrited the fortune of an Italian man he served while imprisoned. After Napoleon's breif reign, he came back and took vengance on his "friends", including the man who married his fiancee while he was imprisoned. He only spared one of the men on the basis that this man, named Allut, refused participate in turning him in. Allut, ironically, ended up killing Francios.

I love this book. I read the abridged version...not really realizing it was abridged in college...and then I HAD to buy the unabridged two volume edition when I found it years later. It is great!!!

I loved the book! Then I watched the movie (the newer version) and I totally hated it! It didn't follow the book much and it really bothered me.

I read it last summer (the abridged version of course...the regular one is hard to find). It had a certain charm to it that was pretty interesting
