I have a flat fretboard, steel string accoustic guitar. Do I need to buy a capo specifically for a steel stringed? I want one that I can change positions quickly.

Well, there's this capo made by Dunlop that you can use that's both cheap and easy to use. It works like a spring-loaded clamp so you don't need to mess around with complicated locks and whatnot. You can even use it on almost any six-string guitar! Plus it's fairly cheap! I bought mine in a local shop for under $15. In bigger stores, like Sam Ash, it might be even cheaper.

There's also what is called a "roller capo" where the clamp is replaced by a rubber roller so you can change positions without physically removing the capo. It's a bit expensive, though (about $25). Have fun!

they are all about the same. and all fret boards are flat or should be on guitars. there is one that screws on around the neck and can roll up and down, but I never tried it. I wouldn't spend more than 17$ because they all do the job fine. have fun.
