I don't sleep well at night, and take Walmart's brand of sleeping pills. I don't have very much energy during the day. If there was an alternative medicine I could take to help me sleep and one that would give me energy, I would be forever greatful.

Exercise - it will increase your energy during the day because it will expand your endorphins. And at night your body will be tired enough to get a good nights sleep. It's a beautiful cycle

First you need to be sure your fatigue is totally related to not sleeping enough. If you have been taking an OTC sleeping pill for awhile it is probably doing no good now. Meantime you really should have your thyroid levels checked and your iron level would be a good idea too. There very might might be something medical going on. You also do not state your age, menopause can cause insomnia and fatigue as well.

You can try melatonin, which is over the counter and a natural substance your body makes for sleep. Some say it works, some say it doesn't. Calcium supplements, or milk before yo go to bed are suppose to make you sleepy. You can try benedryl and take 50mg. which is what they prescribe as a "standing order" for insomnia in the hospital and it's safe for most patients because it's an antihistimine. I understand how you feel. I personally, couldn't take the insomnia and now I take Lunestia, which I find very helpful and is not suppose to be addictive. Talk to your doctor for other ideas. Hope you get some rest soon. god Bless.

You should see a doctor, check to see why you're so tired all time. Plus they could monitor your intake of sleeping pills as being dependent on them can also screw you up.

You could have anemia (low blood count) which can be very fatiguing; you could have a thyroid problem; and there are many physical causes as to why you're tired all the time and have problems sleeping.
