Personally, I haven't been paying too much attention to the National League (being a fan of American League play), and I've noticed that the wild card race is still tight.

Who do you think will win the N.L. Wild Card and why? I'm just interested in hearing your opinions.

You're right...It is tight for the N.L.C.S

TEAM W L Pct GB
Cincinnati 66 61 .520 --
San Diego 65 62 .512 1
Philadelphia 64 62 .508 1.5
San Francisco 62 65 .488 4
Arizona 62 65 .488 4
Milwaukee 61 65 .484 4.5
Florida 60 66 .476 5.5
Houston 60 67 .472 6
Colorado 59 67 .468 6.5
Atlanta 59 67 .468 6.5

The way the San Diego Padres have been handling the Los Angeles Dodgers as of late, I think San Diego could easily be considered a strong contender for a wild card if not overtake the Dodgers in the race for first place in the NL West...and, maybe the Dodgers may have to fight it out for the NL wild card.

But, I think either the Padres or the Dodgers will take the NL wild card.

Well it all depends on who can go on a good winning streak and become seriously competitive with the wild-card holder and other teams that are within a game or two. Right now the only teams in the NL that are in the race and look good RIGHT NOW are the Phillies and the Brewers. The Reds are still holding the ticket but other teams are threatening. Anybody in the NL within 6 or 7 games of the Wild-card spot is definetely not counted out.
Even if you look at the divisional titles, nobody has anything wrapped up. If the Cards go on a 2 or 3 game slide and Milwaukee or Cincinnati goes on a run, they that entire division is up for grabs.
The bottom line is its way to hard to tell right now who will take the wild-card spot let alone the NL divisonal titles...Its a great year for baseball with this kind of tightness in the race!

As much I wanna say the Dodgers will win the pennant in the west. I Think they are going to end up with wild card spot. Their momentum is beginning to slow down. They have some tough opponents coming up. It's still a little too far to predict but more than likely a team in the west will win it. Oh yeah, the American League is a joke! It can't compete against the National. C'mon DH? It's like playing poker with a wild. You are guaranteed a higher hand but you win less money for it. It is a team sport. Let the pitcher bat. It makes it more exciting. I hate watching the American League scores. They're always like 15-20 runs daily. Why have 10 men for 9 positions?

The National League Wild Card has been a see-saw battle since the All-Star break. There is no clear-cut thought on who will win the Wild Card. Everyone at first thought the Reds would win, now their 4 games back. San Diego leads now, but don't be surprised if they lose their lead in the Wild Card. If you look at the Wild Card standsing right now, my best bet would be any team above Arizona and Altanta. Right now, the only team not in contension is Washington, Pittsburg and Colorado; but there is one month left to the season, alot can happen in a month.

I'm thinking the NL wildcard will come from the NL West. The Cardinals appear to be in near free-fall right now. That could certainly change in the next few weeks, because everyone knows the Cardinals have a fantastic offensive lineup. But based on what is happening right now, I would guess either LA or SD.

Right now I think the Reds will win The Wild Card because I think they have the players and coaches to do it.

I think the Phillies will win w.c simply because they have the easiest remaining schedule of the remaining teams. They are only 1 game out right now and dont play a team with a recor d above.500 the rest of the way.

Gonna go out on a limb and say the Brewers just because nobody ever picks them, but my real choice would have to be the Padres because they have the tendency to get hot late. You can make a ton of guesses but thats what i think. The west coast teams dont have to deal with the hot summers like the Midwest teams. It takes a lot out of a player and/or players.
