This is simply the process of actually shutting down the computer and the restarting it. DO NOT select the restart option as this does not entirely do the same thing.

A "Cold Boot" is the process of turning on a computer when it is turned off. This is also called a Hard Boot. A "Warm Boot" is restarting the system using the software provided on the computer.
Simply put, it's pushing the button to turn the computer on when it's off.

to perform a cold boot: press and hold the power button until the system turns off and then wait for a moment or two and then power up the system (turn back on) :)

um.. start, shut down.
to hard boot you hit ctrl/alt/delete at the same time twice and it will restart you computer. DO NOT DO THIS if you have unsaved work.
hold in the button on your CPU for about 5 seconds

when you first turn on your computer that is called cold start. turning it off and back on again is called rebooting or restarting. you can also do a warm restart which resets all your windows default settings without completely turning off your computer
